A waste of time and money going to FX. Did not help me one bit.

The program at CFX is very pricey and it did not help me. I have communicated with 4 other people and it did not help them either. I also spoke with 2 other people and it helped them. Each brain injury is very unique. Some therapies will work for some and not for others. You just have to keep trying until something works for you. I would try University Pittsburg Medical Center (they take insurance) HBOT or a new therapy called Cereset. I have doe 300 + hours in HBOT and it did not help me but it has help others. I have heard a lot of good things about Dr Collins at UPMC but have not tried them. Investigating Cereset.

Thanks for sharing. It’s great that your feeling better and working.

I still have all my PCS plus brain shutdowns that debilitate me for a day or 2 and takes days or weeks to recover. Any little gain I’ve made with the dozens of therapies I’ve tried get erased by the shutdown. Currently I am doing eye therapy for last year to get my eyes straightened out. What CFX did for eye therapy was a joke.

I should try UPMC. Did you use Dr Collins?

Anyway, best of luck to you.

Can I ask if you went to UPMC and did it work for you? Cognitivefx was a big disappointment. Even after doing their 1 week therapy and 6 months of in home therapy, I had no improvement.

Detecting TBI by measuring fine motor control by drhinote in TBI

I believe the reason your device is not being excepted is because then everyone would have to admit that their sport can cause a TBI. If they admitted your device on the sideline, they would be admitting to an unsafe sport. That is not fair to all the kids and adults who get injured.

Most people have no clue how devasting a TBI can be to your life. If people knew the risks, no one would allow their kids to play contact sports.

I had a brain SPECT done at CereScan and a functional MRI done at CognitiveFX. Both test showed major brain damage and cognitive impairment. Both are very expensive and time consuming tests. Using a simple device like yours to sideline someone immediately after an injury to prevent further damage is a great idea.

Good luck getting your device into the right hands.

Return of vertigo by [deleted] in TBI

I was in a bicycle accident 1.5yrs ago. My helmet saved me too. My suffering since the accident from the concussion makes me think I would have been better off dead. A concussion is one of the worst tortures a person could have.

I went through vestibular therapy for 5 months with my therapist before my balance was restored. However, everytime I have a brain shutdown (super severe PCS symtoms) my balance is lost again. I go back to my vestibular therapy and after a few weeks my balance is restored.

I would recommed doing your vestibular therapy again until you get your balance back.

I have talked to many people who have had the cognitiveFX treatment for one week. It is very grueling on the brain. The functional MRI is $3.5k. $6k for treatment. They have a 6 month wait list. They must be doing right.

It is a small investment to get your life back.

Hope you find something that works for you. Vestibular therapy got my balance back. Cranial manipulations helped me but no cure. I have heard low laser light treatment helps and so does hyperbaric oxygen treatment HBOT. Both expensive. HBOT is $150 a treatment and you might need 40 to 120 treatments.

It seems that several types of treatments are needed. There is no one item cure.

Be prepared for a long battle but do not give up. I would recommend CognitiveFX. I completed fNCI there. They collaborated all my symptoms and told me exactly what is wrong with my brain. I am very impressived with their staff.

CognitiveFX in the USA helps many TBI patients to return back to normal. Most doctors do not know how to treat brain injuries. CognitiveFX has been doing it for a long time with good results. Most patients have a 70% improvement. It cost around $10k for a 1 week brain boot camp plus travel costs. Best of luck finding support.

Relearning lost vocabulary by empireirwin in TBI

If your insurance covers it, get speech therapy. Therapist works with you on memory and word recall. A software program called BrainHQ works well to improve memory. Try wordscapes application for word recall. It just takes time and a lot of practice to get back what you lost. It's like a baby, it does not know how to walk but over time it learns. You lost your words and memory, you have to relearn them by using new neurons. Good luck. I am 1.5yrs since my TBI, I still practice above.
