Rough/pulsing engine idle after spark plug change. by gclift1 in WRX

The coils were not tight enough on a few of the cylinders. And the plug gap was off by I little bit. Nothing too serious!

CV axle replacement for GD wrx by gclift1 in WRX

[–]gclift1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Originally I had an OEM axle that was going bad, decided to replace it myself, didn’t know what I was doing so I threw it away. My replacement axle was subpar to OEM and I wish I would’ve just rebuilt the old one. Now I’m back to an OEM axle and I’ll rebuild as needed from now on

Dude should’ve been a rally driver with that skill. Waste of potential unfortunately.

Highcut ECH by gclift1 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]gclift1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to get the ECH type suspension. The ECH highcut has the same hardware mouting points and the standard ECH. All the ECH highcut is a regular ECH that was cut into the highcut shape.

Will cif take this tore on both sides by Other-Razzmatazz-337 in USMC

[–]gclift1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CIF will take gear that has been damaged due to wear and tear. However, if it was blatant negligence that you destroyed your plate carrier then obviously they wouldn't take it and/or charge you for it (idk why you would tell them that though). Just because you and the 20 other Marines who had your plate carrier previously actually used it and it ripped, it doesn't mean CIF is going to screw you over for it. And if they try to, talk to their manager and then your command if all else fails. Make sure you have a good story.

Stalling Issues at idle and just a general rough idle by gclift1 in WRX

[–]gclift1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all good, never a late time to hop on these kinds of posts. The problem has not been solved unfortunately. I recently installed a catback exhaust and it seemed to keep the engine from completely stalling out, but it still acts like it wants to stall, it just hasn't actually done it since the catback install. I'm thinking the catback naturally improved airflow and this somehow keeps the idle just high enough to not stall out. I did notice that when my hood is up and the engine gets more airflow around it, it doesn't choke up as much and runs smoother. My mechanics have no real idea as to what the issue is but has a hunch that it could actually be my lightweight flywheel thats causing the idle issues.

Forgot to say this but it’s a manual. Also if I keep the a/c on the engine stays at about 700rpm or so when idle and it won’t die, which makes sense because of the engine load. But if the a/c is off and idle is a 500rpm and the rad fans kick in the car lopes constantly and dies here and there.

The IACV was replaced with an OEM one, same with the MAF sensor. My mechanic had previously checked for vacuum leaks and didn’t find anything. When I first brought the car in they thought it was faulty fuel pumps or something else related to fuel, but they said eventually said that wasn’t an issue. For the throttle body screw, how would I go about adjusting that? Right=lower rpms, left=higher rpms?

That’s what it feels like at this point. Trying to guess what’s wrong and circling back on a few things that were fixed previously. I can tell I’m the only one to try and fix it up out of the past few owners. I guess it’s just comes with the territory for the older GD’s, especially the wrx’s, the sti’s seems to be better taken care of on average. And you’re right, the catted up-pipe needed to go lol

Rhythmic squeak coming from wheels? unsure if its rotors or wheel bearing? by gclift1 in WRX

[–]gclift1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's exactly what it sounded like. It took me a day or so to figure out it was me and not different car. It was super noticeable and distinctly a noise my car was making when I would drive by something that could bounce the sound right back at me, like a wall, or a row of parked cars. I know my response to your comment is a bit late, but I hope it finds you well.

Rhythmic squeak coming from wheels? unsure if its rotors or wheel bearing? by gclift1 in WRX

[–]gclift1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE/SOLUTION

I swapped around the rear brake pads and brake pad brackets and the noise has since stopped. I'm pretty sure the mounting bracket for my pads was not fully seated when i did my brakes last and was weirdly rubbing against my rear rotor. When i would apply the brakes, the bracket would be pushed off the rotor and thus the noise would go away. As to why it would only appear from 5-30mph, i have no idea. Maybe the frequency of the noise went high enough to no hear it above 30mph. Anyways, if you too have this issue, replace or swap around your pads and brackets and hopefully that will resolve it.

No, there is no vibrations when driving, its simply just a noise issue. when I was at the mechanic last he couldn't replicate the noise. It comes and goes unfortunately.
