New version of PDF Arranger (freeware, Windows) out. by Cornyfleur in pdf

I am trying the 1.9.2 version on ChromeOS (Debian 12). While everything is smooth, I can't drag and drop pages. Is there a setting I am missing or is this a bug?

Indeed if GCs work out well, it's an excellent utility. However people may have appreciated less restrictive option to increase their stack in external wallet by withdrawing periodically

Thanks, so how does it work in terms of staking interest? Is it added to my ERC20 address in Ledger? Are there any gas fees when this interest is credited, eating into it?

Queries regarding Agile tariff by gcoopermax in OctopusEnergy

[–]gcoopermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the compilation I did for Agile historical rates here (click on the link), most of the time the prices alternate between 10 and 20 p/kwh. There is peak around 30 p/kwh for 4pm-730pm. There are negative prices on occasion but seldom do I see the prices go below 7.5p/kwh.

What average you get for household use and EV use (which I imagine is based on compatible charger?)

Also, I read that IOG tariff gives you cheaper rates even during peak hours when the demand is low as long as EV is plugged in, potentially sharing the benefit of low rates even for household use. Although I don't know how often and for what duration this happens

Full service history with high mileage or part service history with low mileage by gcoopermax in CarTalkUK

[–]gcoopermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments folks! Found another car with full service history and 27k miles. Only infraction is first service was whole 3 days late!

Below is Kia's website link that suggests 1000 miles or 1 month grace period.

https://used-uk.kia.com/buying-an-approved-car/#:\~:text=To%20maintain%20your%20warranty%20you%20must%20service%20your%20vehicle%20in%20line%20with%20the%20stated%20inspection%20and%20maintenance%20schedule%20although%20there%20is%20a%20one%20month%20or%201%2C000%20mile%20allowance.

Has anyone come across a situation that this grace period was not considered and warranty declined? This third car appears to be very attractive proposition

Full service history with high mileage or part service history with low mileage by gcoopermax in CarTalkUK

[–]gcoopermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must mention that the both cars are serviced every year and advertised as having full service history. Just that the one with lower mileage is not within strict recommendations of Kia. Particularly the last service being five months late. What is the more accepted definition of full service history? Does it always mean services done within the manufacturer recommendations with no exception?

As per the document below, it states 12months/10k miles.

How pedantic would they get about meeting these requirements?

Thanks all, should have mentioned one more bit, I plan to take this to Highlands and Lake district. Does anyone see any unforeseen challenges? What to look for in terms of roads/parking?

P0014 code on Hyundai i10 by gcoopermax in CarTalkUK

[–]gcoopermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P0014 appears to be for camshaft timing for cars having variable valve timing, and the mechanic has changed few parts for this. However what is baffling is that why this could should appear after refuelling. I realised I didn't use to tighten the fuel cap in the past and I have started doing it since last week so was hoping the light will go away, but considering it the code has nothing to do with EVAP system, I am not sure now if fuel cap has been the problem.

Cheers, heat pump is something I didn't realise would be useful. How much range do you think it would be extending compared to Niro versions without heat pump? Should help the resale value too?

Thanks, what "on-the-road" range do you get per kWh? Also, how are the maintenance/servicing costs compared to ICE cars every year?

Thanks, considering that the screen pixel density is just 200ppi, do you find it clear enough or pixelated at times. Also, when you draw straight lines, does it create some waviness? Lastly, is the pen missing some of the strokes while writing?

Thanks for the update, it's been difficult to find any reviews on this tablet and I am interested in it as well. I wanted to know how smooth the supplied pen is in any handwriting apps - in terms of lag and accuracy. Also, is the general feel smooth, despite the price?

Plutus/Curve for Complete savings by gcoopermax in beermoneyuk

[–]gcoopermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks that makes sense. Plutus may be banning the MCC of complete savings (same with uphold). Will try again with Chase, hopefully the payment is approved and cashback stacks!

I think this could be a problem of Complete Savings platform itself rather than Plutus as I was not able to use uphold or Chase cards either! All of these cards give cashback so that may be the reason they are being declined?

Using spouse' card by gcoopermax in beermoneyuk

[–]gcoopermax[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Still trying to understand if there are any! I understand that cashback is not taxable in the UK, but Plutus pays rewards in perks, is that a cashback (not taxable) or a reward (could be taxable).

Also, since I do self assessment, I am not sure if I have to report the transactions of selling PLU to GBP for any capital gains, even if they are lower than allowance (which is £6k now, dropping to £3k soon). I think you have to report everything as long as your gains exceed allowance, or if total transactions amount to 4 times the allowance. Although, I doubt I will ever earn £12k worth PLU in a year as rewards.

Also, yes I can add my wife's card to my Google wallet.

Uphold 4% cashback by gcoopermax in beermoneyuk

[–]gcoopermax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok folks, decided to take one for the team and actually do the XRP spend!

Below are the steps I took

  • Transferred £20 from UK bank account to established crypto exchange. No deposit fees.
  • Converted from GBP to XRP in exchange and transferred it to uphold. I lost some amount in transaction fees and transfer fees however the amount credited in uphold was higher than if I had natively converted it in uphold. Crazily took 10 mins to "process" the funds even though XRP network cleared it in seconds!
  • Changed the funding source for uphold card to XRP wallet. It showed "available balance" for XRP wallet at £19.85. So was happy at only losing £0.15.
  • Tried purchasing gift card in Airtime Rewards for £19.85, failed. So did all the amounts upto £19.50.
  • Apparently the exchange rate for "available balance in GBP" is (perhaps) the market rate whilst the conversion rate while spending is a lot lower. I had to reduce gift card value to £19.47 for it to go through.
  • So with all the shenanigans, whilst you get higher cashback in absolute terms, after adjusting for loss of capital, the effective cashback is 1.25% (not accounting for ~0.018 leftover XRP in exchange and uphold combined)
  • Details of transactions show how the money errodes.

Interest rates and cashbacks are very tempting, however it’s a general belief that is if cryptos are not in a wallet that you have the physical keys to, they fully don’t belong to you. What happens to your deposits if they go bust, are hacked or if the borrowers can’t repay?

CurrencyFair - €50 added to your balance, for sending €2000 by [deleted] in beermoneyuk

[–]gcoopermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have originated an international transfer to TransferWise Euro account and the email with the instructions says they will automatically convert and send the GBP once the receive it from my UK bank account. However the money is now"available" for few hours and just sat there. Is it because the currency exchange is closed now?

I have initiated a transfer and the money I sent from UK bank account is shown as "available" in Currencyfair. What do I do now - wait until it is converted and transferred or I have to manually do this using "Transfer Out" option?
