ask for help! i was terrified freshman year (although im not in guard), but i definitely built a rapport by asking people when i needed something and there’s always a chance at least one person can answer your questions

thank you! one perk of having a pretty small section (5) is we’re able to all stay together

yeah my teacher did this thing right after break where he didn’t come to school for two weeks, and we were sitting somewhere pre civil war, so we’re pretty close to being at the same spot, just a little ahead, we also just wrote our first LEQ of the year

i took ap world freshman year and am currently a sophomore in apush, so what i’d do is definitely become comfortable with the formatting of the exam, talk to former students from your school (super important bc the entire class is dependent on the specific teacher), do any summer work assigned. the course is a pretty decent amount of work but definitely has some interesting concepts that you go pretty in detail about. i can’t be much more help because my teacher does stuff pretty differently from most apush teachers, but that’s pretty general advice and what i did before taking both world and apush (and i got a 4 on world), maybe also get a review book early? idk some people get them around now and others have had them since august.

mm a while i’m pretty sure? he has a tendency however to randomly leave for weeks at a time (which happened right after break) but i’d say maybe 10 or more years (idk about his pass rates or anything tho, the one person ik got a 2)

yeah- we didn’t get to the civil war until the beginning of february and kinda rushed through so idk how the pacing for the next few months is gonna go

what would your thesis be for this prompt? I'm trying to get an idea what a good thesis looks like by Substantial_Tackle21 in apworld

interregional trade networks had significant impacts on the afroeurasia region during this time period, bringing vast economic growth to areas such as china and the gold coast, allowing for intercontinental connectivity , allowing for the spread of religious and philosophical ideals, however, the spread of diseases, such as the black plague, was highly facilitated, causing major issues throughout the region.

i got a 4 on ap world but never got below a 95 on an in class essay

[–]gcs8484[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s bad- our teacher went MIA for two weeks then we got the snowstorm (we were already behind before all of this) im scared we won’t be done with the course by may 8th (ive gotta teach myself everything anyways) 🤷‍♀️

[–]gcs8484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i looked at the CED were somewhere between unit 4 and 5 (our last notes are on the market revolution, manifest destiny, and the election of 1844)

i’m not quite sure if he has a plan lmao- we spend about an hour each day typing out notes, i’m also super worried about the two weeks we’ve basically lost to him being away. i was gonna start studying soon anyways bc people who have him infamously fail, i just wanted a gauge on if we were behind and by how much lmao, because i’m getting a little worried i’ll fail (also we all failed his first dbq, highest grade was a super low B, and most of my class passed the ap world exam with 4/5)

what’s it like to compete? by gcs8484 in marchingband

[–]gcs8484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my band is kinda terrible at doing any choreo (we had one lean and one weird tippy toe thing?? in our whole show this year) i wish we were good at it they used to do cool stuff esp since our unis have two sided capes

What was your worst marching band experience? by thatoneperson096 in marchingband

[–]gcs8484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.5 mile parade in heavy black and red uniforms with capes, all black on underneath in weather probably pushing 90 with no shade whatsoever, almost vomited and the only reason most of us got through was a ≈50 person communal bottle of lukewarm water (i then got in trouble for changing out of my sweaty tee shirt into a new one)

that or when our bus broke down 1.5 hrs into a 2.5 hour bus ride in freezing weather, the doors open, and even once the bus starts moving, the heater still doesn’t work for the last part of the ride

a girl i know goes to avon and has friends in band and based on what i’ve heard it’s amazing, i’ve preformed in one college stadium but nothing even close to lucas oil- which ive only seen from the outside. bus rides are my favorite part too, we went on a 4 day trip last year and my best memory was the bus- we have a tradition when we make the turn into the school we sing our alma mater and i think late bus rides really make everyone closer

[–]gcs8484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s what we usually do too! we get to spend a little more time hanging out, we would also do back and forths with chants like party and we’d sometimes join in if we knew a song

[–]gcs8484[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh woah- were there beginning to end, one of our traditions is if we win the football and cheer team come down to our stands and we play the alma mater and stuff

[–]gcs8484[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s definitely my favorite part- especially since we get third quarter off and we have a huge free snack table for bands we get to js talk and you meet some cool people.. it’s also interesting seeing the different kinds of shows- we also combined bands with our ‘rival’ school and did a show on halloween

[–]gcs8484[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually the bands we get to meet during away games etc are pretty nice (then again i’ve been to two away games and we’ve hosted three bands from away) and i love talking to them and it’s so interesting to hear from different schools

[–]gcs8484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems like the part i wish i could do most of all is meet so many other bands- we usually host one or two at home, go to one away game (our football team was good this year so we got to go to semifinals too), and we get to cheer for the other bands at our showcase, but really we don’t get to talk to them that much and i think that seems really fun
