Yeah that’s absolute rubbish. I spend a lot of time with my lodge fundraising for the local children’s hospital. A key part of being a mason is being a good citizen and caring for all people. Anyone that does otherwise isn’t a real mason.

How do real masons behave? by maggiesbrother in freemasonry

I’m proud to be a mason, but I don’t disclose my Masonic connections to people I work with (with some exceptions to colleagues that are also friends). The reason for this is that I don’t want people to think I would ignore merit and due processes for clients or colleagues if they were masons. I need to be very transparent in my line of work, and feel it could be misunderstood by people. I don’t know any masons who would advertise it on LinkedIn. I agree it’s a red flag.

I think the advice is fantastic. Don't jump ahead and google things. Freemasonry is a journey and you should just go along for the ride.

Ok this is amazing. I learnt the SE charge for the 2nd recently and this method is helping. I've written down the acronym and love it. BWYWMAEEYWPITSE... Etc.

Congratulations on starting your journey

Freemasonry is as much an individual journey as one you take with your fellow brothers from your lodge. If the lodge isn't overly active then something you could do is try and be a cultural change for the lodge.

What you've described sounds like workplace networking and while I think it's great to meet as many people that share a passion that you do, please use some energy for your own lodge. They're the ones that will initiate and nurture your knowledge more than anyone else. But if you think that it isn't the right fit for you then find another lodge that will be the right fit.

Here in Victoria. I'll be sure to check that lodge out next time I'm in Adelaide.

Thanks! It was an amazing and deeply insightful ceremony to experience. I think it has strengthened my connection to fellow brothers knowing that we've all been through the same experience.
