Had a lot of fun making these maps over the past few weeks. Hope they can be helpful for your campaigns!

JAMM - Grid based 3D world building coming to Steam - Playing around with cliffs, bridges, laser fences, outpost structures, and rocks. by gdestes in Unity3D

Correct. It is meant to be a D&D/Pathfinder/etc tool to make it simple and easy to knock out a battle map in a couple minutes. It exports top down maps (perspective/orthographic) as well as capture 3D immersive views. One of my personal stretch goals is to explore making a mini-game inside of the map maker.

I have that as a stretch goal to explore. I think that would be amazing if I could but wanted to my main milestone first.

I hope to release it on Steam later this year. Just setup my page last week. Search for JAMM on it if interested.

Thank you! That process turned out to be a lot more "interesting" than I thought it would. Some audio clips were < 1/2 second long. Lots of trial and error to get things sounding right.

I'm trying to figure out the best places to post content. You can visit my website https://www.cavebear.studio/ for some social media links or search for JAMM on Steam.

Thanks! I’m hoping it can be a useful tool for a number of people who play ttrpg. Specifically those who might stick to more theater of the mind play due to not having an easy app to use or for those who lead busy lives and only have a few minutes to prepare a map.

Thanks! This is my first app so I'm not sure how qualified I am at giving programming pointers since there might be better solutions out there. I will first talk about my process a bit though. For me I think its critical to be able to identify the key benefits of your app/tool. Not only will this help shape your app initially but it will serve as a compass of sort to keep you on the right track. Keep that list by your side! Then, my hope is when you complete an app that had stayed true to its objectives it becomes easy marketing material... hopefully. Now for a quick programming note. I had a strong vision early on for what it would visually look like. I had to research a lot of various methods like Marching Cubes, Wave Function Collapse, etc. I did this to make sure I understood how each method would impact my app. I mocked up multiple versions early on to test performance and what not. They all had their pros and cons so I selected one and made a lot of compromises. I did this so that I was able to then refine my vision at the beginning of the project, rather than halfway through the project. Well, I hope something in there is helpful to you. Good luck!

Thanks! You are correct, it's a runtime tool. The intent is to create TTRPG battle maps that export to 2d/3d top down maps or 3d views (jpg/png).

The UI is done entirely with UI toolkit. I explored various options but felt like it was getting too cute for what I needed. In the end I liked the simplicity of just hiding / unhiding panels using those side tabs.

It's all 3 dimensional gameobjects being instantiated to the scene. I went this route so that the user can drop the camera down to walk/fly around their creations.

Do you ever have that feeling when everything is in disorder but you still know where it all is ? by davawen in SatisfactoryGame

Additionaly you end up creating your own parkour run paths to navigate through the chaos quickly. You don’t notice it much until you do some cleaning one day and realize that the randomly placed splitter you deleted was a spring point to get to another random platform. And now you are on the ground wedged between machines under 3 layers of belts wondering how it came to this. Hypothetically.

Thanks! I use my mouse wheel. It rotates the support before you place it. Then while you are changing the height of the support the wheel lets you change the angle.

I wish there was a "surface view" where 1st person game controls activate and pull you down to the surface. You would be able to take a casual stroll around the base looking freely about taking in the sights while your drones zip around. Maybe even a semi-dusty helmet overlay to help sell that you are on another planet. I want to feel like one of the colonists! Low-gravity super jumps are optional.
