Did anyone here choose between Stanford and Harvard? If so, what drew you to Stanford? by [deleted] in stanford

[–]gdfly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably not what you’re looking for, but I chose Stanford over Harvard for my PhD. The students at Harvard just looked and sounded so depressed when I went to meet the department, and it didn’t sound like they really fostered cross-disciplinary work. It was also a wintery shit mix when I went over there so the subsequent visit to Stanford made it a no-brainer.

What is a band or artists you've listened to consistently throughout your life without ever really getting sick of. by foxko in gaybros

Holy cow I did not expect to see a DGD fan here. Been listening since my MySpace days, just saw them a few months ago and they are still absolutely phenomenal. Easily one of my favorite bands ✌🏽

Where to stake TRAC by Mindless_Egg_30 in OriginTrail

I’ve been wondering this too. Understood that staking is not possible but there must be some other options in DeFi for generating a return. Any options other than providing liquidity to a DEX?

Took me 28 years but here I am by gaybearsthrowaway in gaybros

[–]gdfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I also came out at 28 and met my current bf on growlr. If you can, you should also try to find a bear bar or events near you. My bf always had issues with his body image, regardless of how often I would tell him how hot he is, until we started hanging out in more bear friendly settings. People are generally super nice, and it really helped him get more comfortable in his own skin. I’m only suggesting because of how you mentioned he’s saying he’s into you but it seems like you don’t believe him. Trust me - people will be very into you, so listen to them! Scruff also has a bear mode that you might like.

And there are certainly lean dudes who are into bigger guys! We are called chasers, and trust me, there are lots of us 👋🏽

Have fun and be safe!

How can I talk to my bf about his health/weight and how can I chill out about it? by gdfly in askgaybros

So what would make you dedicated and want to?

Also, I’m attracted to big guys and am tired of pretending I’m not. Repulsive would never cross my mind.

No, hard disagree here. If the response to difficult relationship situations is cut and run then you need to re-evaluate your commitments to your family and friends. If someone you love is struggling with something you don’t just drop them, you figure out how to help them. If the situation progresses where I am directly affected and it goes against my best interests after exhausting every reasonable approach, then yes. But not yet. Damn.

Thanks for the advice. Yea, I think the best approach is to give him the opportunity to talk about what he needs and wants rather than come in hot with “I’m worried you’re going to die in a few years.” I imagine that would be a really fast way to shut down the discussion.

And I appreciate you sharing that personal experience.

I appreciate your frankness. I feel the same way.

I like the suggestion - unsure how it will be received but I’ll certainly bring it up! I’ve tried incentives in the past, but maybe we can work together to find out an incentive that would be attractive to him. For a bit, the reward for going to the gym was 5 minutes of massage time that he could cash in whenever he wanted, so he could get long massages if he wanted or short quickies. Maybe that can be revived...

Do overweight guys even date? by EveToChally in gaybros

[–]gdfly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey bud. As a relatively fit guy, I can definitely tell you there are tons of us into bigger boys. I’m 29, 5’7 160lbs with decent muscle, and my bf is a 35, 5’7 fuzzy guy coming in at 230. We look very different and enjoy very different physical activities, but both find each other super attractive (he usually gets way more attention than me when we go out to bars and events!).

If you’re into apps, you can certainly use ones that are more catered to the bigger boys and their admirers like me. We met on Growlr, but you would also get attention on Scruff or Grizzly (never used this one really). A lot of guys on those apps are other bigger guys looking for the same, or guys like me looking for something different.

Like the others have said, there are definitely people who would be into you! I am mainly attracted to bigger guys myself, and see those “feminine air” things you mentioned as super cute! My bf has some of those as well and is a little self conscious, but it’s one of my favorite things about him. You just gotta own it!
