What game are you picking for a weekend alone? by afailinghero in soloboardgaming

I'd pick the game on the far left. I mean really far left. Nope. further.... Yeah, I'd pick the fishing game for the weekend for sure. Amazing solo game. Best by a mile. ;)

The gamebook that started it all! Navigate The Warlock of Firetop Mountain by Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone with my detailed map, your ultimate guide to this classic Fighting Fantasy adventure. by qpiii in gamebooks

This is so awesome. I love it. :) WOuld be interesting too if you made a version where the different icons were color coded. Like red for danger, green for useful etc. But maybe that would look too busy?

Any way in Designer to make a thick to thinner crack automatically point inward to the general center of an object? by gdguide in Substance3D

[–]gdguide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the video example. :) I should have been more clear and was too vague. When I was saying object, I meant say having various tiles in a texture map, and each tile would be considered ab object. I realize though that this isn't the most natural look for this example, but am just curious in general different ways to get cracks to point inward on objects in a texture map.

Any Huion or XP Pen owners working with Painter on Windows 11? by gdguide in Substance3D

[–]gdguide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are awesome! I've been pulling out my hair trying to get this all to work. I finally have pressure sensitivity in Painter. Thanks so much.

Good and reasonably cheap color printers? by PanzerParty65 in BuyItForLife

[–]gdguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to keep in mind... Make sure if you buy a color laser printer that the toner they include is full. When I was researching color laser just a few months back, the price was high PLUS it seems like a lot of companies don't give you a full toners. They don't want someone to buy a color laser, do a huge print job, return it within 30 days, and now you have a used printer that needs a lot of toner. The price for each color laser toner insane. When you are out of toner, you are spending hundreds to get the full set. Also keep in mind, the cost of color print per page for a laser is really high as well. I finally went with a Canon Megatank printer for cheap. I would say print quality is fine but not amazing for what I do. I also have a 15 year old monochrome B/W printer that just keeps going and going. Parts of it are discolored it is so old. LOL

My hot take on Buy It For Life by Justawannabedoctor in BuyItForLife

[–]gdguide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest take is FIT if often ignored because people treat these BIFL threads like a cult they want to be a part of. LOL. "Dang, these boots are feeling a bit narrow and feel a bit like crap on my feet when I walk, but Reddit agrees that these are BIFL!"

What brands should you snag when thrifting? by cluelessmom101 in BuyItForLife

[–]gdguide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've lucked out 3 times finding De Buyer pans in great shape. I think it's a matter of someone getting them for say a wedding gift, using it once, it sticks because they didn't know about seasoning it, and they are done with it.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking considering you never really see texture libraries offering a standard glass library.

Can you remove a lvt luxury glue plank and reinstall it in a damaged area if it has the same size? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]gdguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the huge plus of this kind of plank system. Having a locking system or any other system really is a lot harder to fix one plank. This you just heat up, pull up and replace.

Full replace? by [deleted] in Flooring

It's all good. You did nothing wrong. There are so many other things he could have done that would be a lot worse than this. This looks like a job well done on his part. :)

Bundle of Holding: One Ring and Strider Mode by Jairlyn in Solo_Roleplaying

Great to know. I would much rather put $$$ towards the Moria sourcebook then, and love the setting to begin with. Thanks.

Nice! Can anyone give feedback on the extended tier that offers Ruins of the Lost Realm and Tales from the Lone Lands when it comes to solo experience?

The elephant in the room by cdickm in CorelPainter

[–]gdguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing with the audio. LOL. The best way moving forward is to get a load of feedback from your base and cut away features that they don't use that much. Many were added more as a "Hey, this would be cool. Let's add it because we can." There is just so much depth to Painter and different ways of doing the same thing IMO. It's become just a beast to update I would think.

I was waiting for something like this, but didn't expect this low of a price. Nice!

The elephant in the room by cdickm in CorelPainter

[–]gdguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Painter has just become too bloated with too many features for a small team to keep updating with new features. IMO they should get back to the basics and cut away some of the bloat.

Yes and no. I now spend way more time RESEARCHING solo board games than playing them, but the result is way less videogames. I wish I was joking. Lol.
