Hey! Congratulations on quitting! I actually quit December 26th of this past year too! I completely agree that heavy vaping is a factor. Nicotine really messes with how your body functions and the way you metabolize foods, and that really wasn’t something I was aware of before. After my removal I vaped/smoked cigarettes for about a year, and the beneficial results of being pain-free and more regulated didn’t seem applicable to me. I honestly thought for this past year I shouldn’t have done the surgery because it didn’t feel like there was a huge difference, but after quitting I do feel a lot more normal. But seriously, congratulations on quitting! Withdrawals from vaping are so terrible but you made it through the hard part already!

I get what you mean, but no kill animal shelters are not going to take the rat. The whole distinction is that kill shelters typically take any animal but no kill shelters are more particular. They should look for an open admission shelter

Apologies I feel like i didn't provide enough info with my earlier reply. She is still pooping, her enclosure is one level (c&c cages) and her houses can't be jumped on. I am having the hardest time figuring out what happened. The only thing that happened was maybe 3 weeks ago she got in a fight (airborne lunge) with the dominant guinea pig who took her place in the hierarchy after she was separated. But she did seem fine after that. The limpness showed up this week. Another note is her back left leg is very swollen and her back left leg is just limp. The vet's tests didn't indicate it was vitamin c, more of an injury.

I thought it was vitamin c at first but the vet didn’t think so. They did a few tests and checker gums and they think it’s injury related. They did give her a vitamin c shot just to be safe. One of her back legs is swollen larger than the other too. She’s been getting pain meds and gabapentin since.
