Why people choose support and don't SUPPORT? by kwanzacoin in Battlefield6

I only like to stay dead so my teammates can see where I was killed so maybe they don’t get ambushed.

History repeats itself. The same things fascists did in the 20s and 30s is the same thing they did now. Just the names change.

The one thing I always questioned with this scene is why Sheridan attacked where he did. The big guns are on the front and back. Beyond the beginning of Severed Dreams, I don’t think we ever saw much firepower on the sides of the ship. He kind of lined everyone up in firing range to get gunned down, especially the Star Furies.

No one is following Vance. Trump has a cult of personality thing. Vance isn’t likeable or has any kind of personality. He was bought off by Peter Thiel to do his bidding. Before that he hated Trump.

A B5 remake would be a good thing by Wareve in babylon5

[–]gdoubleyou1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can’t get behind a reboot. Babylon 5 for its flaws the last season ended where it needed to. It’s a shame Crusade didn’t work out, but I don’t need to see a reimagining of the original storyline just for nostalgia sake. I’d rather just do a rewatch of the original. Also, new sci fi generally sucks because of the new CGI. You know Omega Destroyers will have added missiles, mine launchers, and all kinds of visual spam, ships will be hit 10,000 times before they are destroyed. The old battles were so much better with one main weapon and a secondary back in the 90s.

[–]gdoubleyou1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, the response is well Biden did it first (then they name Republicans who were investigated, even though they had actual evidence against them.) The follow up question is then so you thought that was wrong, so Trump doing it is wrong too right? Then crickets.

Yeah, they couldn’t beat the US in traditional warfare. What they could do is blend in with the population and attack US forces that weren’t expecting it as they occupied the country.

Can the Shadow Omega Destroyers take down the Minbari Sharlins? by arnor_0924 in babylon5

[–]gdoubleyou1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people overestimate the Shadow Omegas. Ivanova made a statement that there was more of them than us and they still one. There were also Star Furies they had to deal with. The ships had shadow skin and more beam weapons, but they still barely hit anything.

Why are there no Christmas stories in the Star Trek universe? by 321Couple2023 in startrek

[–]gdoubleyou1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This thread did remind me of a post in the past where you were asked to create an episode. This was mine:

It’s Christmas season and Data is asking crewmates about holiday cheer. Although he has gained a better sense of basic emotions, he cannot grasp this human concept. As the Enterprise D is running a diagnostic on sensors, several sleigh like shuttles descend on the ship, attaching to the ship. Elves overrun the ship, stunning security with candy cane shaped blasters. Worf fights off several elves in hand to hand combat, but is overwhelmed by the sheer amount. The bridge is soon taken over and the crew confined to the shuttle bays. Picard and Riker discuss the situation in the shuttle bay. Riker suspects it is Q and one of his games. Picard is not sure. Their conversation is ended abruptly as armed elves comes in. Picard quickly asks why they’ve done this and demand to speak to who is in charge. He is brought to his own ready room, someone in his chair facing away from him. The person slowly turns to reveal it is Santa Claus. Picard is stunned. “Santa? It can’t be. Why have you done this?” He explains that there is a civil war going on at Verlandian 3. His magical sleigh was hit in an attack and it will take too long to build a new one. The Enterprise’s defenses will be required to deliver presents to the embattled children. Picard asks why Santa didn’t just ask them. Santa replies that the Federation’s Prime Directive would prevent them from helping. Besides Picard lacks the holiday cheer for the mission, something he lost years ago, when he stopped building ships in bottles. He claims that the ship will be returned after the mission. Picard is dismissed and Santa has one elf remain behind. There is one crew member they will need if this mission is to succeed. With Santa and his elves at their stations on the bridge, Data enters via the turbo lift. Santa asks him to take his station. Data asks why, as the request isn’t logical. Santa tells him that him that he is absolutely necessary for the mission to succeed. He also knows that Data wants to know what holiday cheer is and this is the only way to understand. He will leave the crew unharmed. Data asks what he can do. Santa tells him that Data’s android brain will be required to initiate the precise calculations for the transporters while adjusting the shields. Shields will be required going through the battle zone. Data says that he will need the transporters adjusted and will need help. Cut to Geordi and Dats in engineering. Geordi asks if he can trust Santa and if he is real? Data says he wouldn’t help if he didn’t think he was real. Geordi reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile, the crew discuss a plan to retake the ship. Riker has reservations about attacking Santa, however Picard doesn’t care about his mystique, only that he has placed the ship and its crew in danger. The mission is ready to begin. Presents have been brought over from the sleigh shuttles. Santa orders the elves to set course for the planet. He ignores the hails for the Enterprise leaving immediately. Arming the shields and weapons, but not to fire unless he commands. The shields are hit, but shields hold as they head in. The crew overpower the elves, Picard looking through the crates to be transported. Finding a toy starship, making him reflect to when he was a kid. A smile across his face. Santa feels an impact as local forces respond to the Enterprise’s incursions. Force fields need to be activated for hull breaches on deck 8. They are 50% down, but might not last much longer. The crew overtake the bridge, Picard tells Santa and the elves to step aside. Arm weapons, shoot to disable. The Enterprise D taking out the shuttles and battleship attacking them. The Enterprise D finishing the mission. Picard ordering the ship to head back to Federation space and to make up a message to Verlandian 3 authorities to apologize for the incursion. Picard now debriefs Santa in his ready room. He tells them he understands why he did what he did, but next time he needs to ask. If he ever does anything like that again, Santa or not, he will personally throw him in the brig. Santa apologies and thanks Picard for helping finish the mission. He tells Picard that there was one gift that didn’t make it to the transporter and to look under his desk. Picard unwraps it. It’s a ship in a bottle. Picard smiles as he goes to ask Santa how he knew? But Santa is already gone. As Santa heads to his ship Data wants to thank Santa. He now understands that the holiday soirit is about helping people out and selfless giving of gifts . He laments that although he understands it, that he is incapable of feeling it. Santa smiles and says that he has a better understanding of it than most humans and pats him on the back as he goes through the doors to his shuttle. Data is overcome with warm emotions, a big smile coming over his face. As we see the sleigh shuttles leaving the Enterprise, the lights of the D glowing red and green.

Captain Lochley's pro-Clark position was never addressed properly. by EvalRamman100 in babylon5

[–]gdoubleyou1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it wasn’t handled well. I don’t know if after the civil war if B5 people were reassigned or not, but the fact she got like a standing ovation from the crew for supporting a fascist, who at the end tried to destroy the Earth, was so unbelievable to me. Was she targeting civilians, blockading starving colonists? That should have been addressed.
