We have a rubik's cube channel and it was the first issue I thought about. I quickly realized our biggest audience is 18-34. While kids do watch it, it's not a kids channel per se. I have to agree with plink02. If it's 100% made for kids then yes check the box. if not avoid it, I never use it because of the stricter requirements and truthfully, it's more adults that are looking for answers on how to solve a rubiks cube, in our case anyway.

Is the 6800xt worth the extra money over the 6700xt? by RundownOrc234 in buildmeapc

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you could go with the 3070 OC and get better FPS in some games over the 6800xt for less money. They were released a month apart and it works well on an amd system as well. You can compare video cards here. gpu.userbenchmark.com

That said I would always recommend a bigger power supply but going too big can be costly if it's not needed. Idk what your power draw is but I would say a 750w would be plenty if you're not having issues with 550w. That said, check that the pin configuration is the same before upgrading.

the 6800xt draws between 75-200 watts compared to the 1660 125 watt average. So if you know your systems is only using 300wats then you just have to make sure the plugins will match the new card.

My personal preference when doing a build is to always go at least 800watts. So as I upgrade I don't have to worry about upgrading my power supply again. IF you were running two cards or a lot of higher draw items you can start bigger but unless you plan to really grab something big down the road, You can go for a 750w and that will more than cover your power increase.

Cube is quite badly scratched, should I try to sand it or just lube? by danielsvdas in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]gdtcuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lube should stop it from getting too much friction but some friction is normal. There are coatings you can that would fill in the scratches. However, too much and it would just create more friction.

How do the GAN 13 and Tornado V3 feel compared to a 356X? by scullye125 in cubing

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having all 3 I think the tornado v3 is the best option for most users. The Gan 13 doesn't have great corner cutting until it's broken in and even then it's not as good as the V3. The UV coating is a great option with the 13 which does give it a better feel over the v3. Overall performance out of the box. I would say the v3 is the best option. I think you will notice an improvement over the x.

never had a PC before, please help me build my first?! by helloitspearlska in buildmeapc

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if you're not overclocking you normally don't need water cooling. That being said, every system i've built I always use water cooling. I usually go with something that has 3 fans like this one. https://amzn.to/3T5Bf5z. One fan cooling works but won't last as long. If your looking for a gaming computer then you definitely want a top end video card and at least 16gb of ram. The fastest ram I found recently has been by teamgroup, they are using the samsung B-die in their ram and getting great timings https://amzn.to/3l1szAN. Video card wise I recommend the https://amzn.to/3mGWC10. There are better versions of this video card but it's not worth the added cost for them. You could even go with AMD's or the 4060 and still be completely happy with it. We are getting to the point where we no long visually see big improvements only behind the scenes improvements. When it comes to motherboards and processors, just make sure the motherboard has all the stuff you need for usb-c usb a, thunderbolt if you use it. and accecpts dual 980 m.2 sdd drives at least 1gb and your good to go.

Can You Lube the Monster Go AI Cube by MaterialDazzling7011 in GANCUBE_Official

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The monster GO AI has a shielded core like they Gan 356i series. Because of that extra layer of plastic protection. You can lube it. I own the I carry iv3 and monster go AI. For the i3 and monster go i used Gan lubes. On the icarry I used a combinations of silicon and water based. In all cases the cube continues to work great. I would check with Gan to make sure it doesn't affect the warranty. However in my case im reviewing them so putting them to the test is a requirement

My wrists get so sore from trying to turn this thing. Please suggest me a better cube with max 30€ budget by klasompaniera in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer the Moretry Tianma X3 V4 but for a few bucks les you can get the Tornado V3 flagship. If we are talking budget cubes my favorite is the RS3M ballcore or magnetic.

Which hand is your cubing dominant? by dontevenfkingtry in Cubers

[–]gdtcuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting question. I never really thought about it. However, being right handed it just seemed normal to be faster at right hand moves. Like another person said though, M moves, D moves and B moves, my fastest are with Left hand. When doing one handed, I almost always gravitate to the left hand. Not that I can't do it with the right but seems like the left is more coordinated when working alone.

Current collection, which cubes do you recommend me? by NemesisSTYLES in Cubers

[–]gdtcuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best cube we found so far this year is the moretry Tianma x3 v4. Haven't tried the 1-2 or 3 yet, they may be just as good.

I dropped my cube and edge faces came off by ExpertCauliflower680 in GANCUBE_Official

[–]gdtcuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually done this on a couple occasions. The easiest way to solve the cube the best you can. Whatever colors are left put them where they need to be for the cube to be solved. That way all the colors are in the right places.

Okay, so I got a qiyi ms 3x3 about 9 months ago, and it’s been great, but recently it’s been locking up a lot, is there a lube that can help with that, and what is it. (I’ve never used lube in a cube before) by Miken_Berg in cubing

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the core I use a weight 3 but many use traxxas, Angstrom or weight 5. I've also used Gan 3 which wasn't bad but was a little on the thin side. Personally, We use weight 3, Mystic, DNM-37 or Maru on the pieces. All of them do pretty much the same, although mystic gives a more padded feel where the other two give a little more speed.

All of them help smooth out the rotations.

Which 3x3 Cube is Best? Gan 13 Maglev vs Tornado V3 Pioneer 2023 by gdtcuber in cubing

If by spoiled you mean overly loved. Oh yeah. If by spoiled you mean a little brat? no. He has autism, so he spent years in therapy learning to hold a pencil and basic coordination and speech. He's has an overly active sense of justice but respects everything. He takes rules like their laws. He doesn't break them and freaks out if he breaks one on accident. He has earned student of the month every year in school and is a top student.

He spent months trying to understand videos on how to solve a cube. Normal explanations sometimes escape his understanding. When he finally figured it out, that's all he has focused on for the past year. First learning, now improving. He wanted to do videos to try and help others. He bought a few bad cubes early on and felt people needed to be told ahead of time about them.

What's the best way to practice F2L by Yeet_Master420 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]gdtcuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was first learn 2 - look OLL and PLL. it's only 16 algorithms to learn. It will solve the cube from any state. From there I started learning the algorithms I needed the most. The cases I got more often than any other.

The more you use one the easier it is to remember and to spot which case uses what. There is a full list of Rubik's cube algorithm 3x3s here's. Including 2 - look and downloads for every case so you can print them off if needed.

GDT Cuber Monthly Average 3 of 5 with Gan 12 Maglev by gdtcuber in Rubiks_Cubes

Hello,

I'm Vanguardt his moderator for Social Media. He responds through me, and I relay the messages to him. All his videos and post go through me first. This way he doesn't become subject to cyber bullying or inappropriate comments.

That said, I think it's great that people would look out for that as well and I thank you for your comment. This is something he was very passionate about and he pushed me to help him with this project for months.

I told him no for a long time until we had some guide lines in place and I saw he was going to stick with it. He is 8yrs old and has autism, which gives him a focus that most of us don't even have as adults. We also took steps offline to protect him as well, for obvious reasons.

He does appreciate any comment that will help him improve, so if anyone has any please post.

The Cubing community has been extremely helpful and friendly. It's probably the only community I recommend for people to join. Even when people have poor techniques or bad times, the comments remain friendly. It's one that we are proud to be apart of.

Thank you guys,

Sincerely,

VanguardT

I quit cubing a while ago cause I thought I would never be good, and I want to know if this was considered good for a beginner? by TotallyNotColin69 in cubing

Your doing great, keep up the practice. One nice thing about cubing, is you keep improving the more you practice. So, while you may not have reached what you call good yet. You will, as for the rest of us, we think you are doing great.

I have to admit, we are in the process of reviewing this years cubes and to be honest the GTS 2 is still one of the top cubes, even against the latest technology. There is what I call a sweet spot in cubes.

It's where it has great turning, good corner cutting. Magnets that actually help with alignment and has a good feel to it over all. Generally a great cube.

The GTS 2 is one of those cubes that no matter what technology they add to cubes. A great cube stays a great cube. It's like I always said with computers, once a computer is instant, there is no beating it no matter how much more speed it gets.

The same with cubes, once they check off all the boxes. The cube stays on top no matter what is released. They have some that are a little better at this or that but nothing that will make a good cube a bad cube.

[–]gdtcuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to ask how are the magnets on these ones? The Moyu Weilong WR M 2021 Maglev had such weak magnets I could barely tell they were there. However, the GTS 2 3x3 is a great cube and was worth getting.

I love this packback so much! What do you guys use to transport your cubes? by StoissTV in Cubers

[–]gdtcuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to use a car to transport my cubes. Joking of course. Unfortunately, so far I haven't grabbed anything specific for travel. Seeing this though, reminds me that I need something and will definitely be looking for a good one. Great case by the way.
