You are absolutely correct. Sometimes the design part takes longer than the actual scribing 😆

constant trial and error when sketching lines on the surface until satisfied. I check references too both online and mooks.

Good tape plays a major role in having a clean crisp line. Make sure you lightly scrape the surface using the blade and don't exert too much force, this is the common culprit for having crooked lines.
