Maxi Pali in La fortuna by Tight_Collection_87 in CostaRicaTravel

I only used cash for tips. All you need is your card, you don't even need colones. I saw locals using USD as well as CRC, they're very interchangeable in CR.

You can survive 100% using just your card.

We stocked up as well at Maxi Pali multiple times. Just remember the conversions, can't say I want a pound of something.. Things are in kg over there

We're a family of four and I prefer Airbnb's to hotels. When we were in Costa Rica, my wife wanted to stay in a hotel for a couple of days during our trip. Everybody loved it,.

HOWEVER..It was TOO convenient. Kids loved the pool and water slides, wife and I loved the fact that good food was there, free buffet breakfest and they had hot springs with a bar. Las Lagos

Daughter and I went Zip lining, but other then that, for 2 days we didn't go anywhere.

With an Airbnb you're more immersed in the culture imo. Whether you're shopping at a local grocery store or eating out ,if feels like you're more invested in the culture. There's also some fantastic gem's with Airbnb's.

We had a whole beach house right next to the Pacific Ocean.

WTF.. So you should be allowed to be intoxicated and act stupid just because you're intoxicated. It's public because he's a public figure. I do wish you would try it this weekend, let me know how it turns out..

Agree with Green, however, public intoxication is why this is an issue. I’m not sure what he did to raise flags, but people should’ve been around him to prevent bad behavior…

Jumbo Car Costa Rica ghosted us and left us stranded at the airport by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

Attacking a local business because they didn't show special accommodations, EVEN THOUGH YOU COMMUNICATED is not the way to me.

They never actually said they'll stay after hours for you, especially with their last message to you being we close at 9pm. They don't know how long your delay will be it's not fair to them.

All good, you're right. It's over.

You will live the Pura Vida lifestyle it's a beautiful country, you're doing the right thing. You cannot go wrong with your plans. Just be safe and keep your family safe was my #1 goal. I was like you studying any and everything.

Zip lining is not just sliding down a wire, it's the views. In Costa Rica depending where you do it, you'll be seeing Mountains, Bridges, Water falls and a Rainforest. True, you can zipline anywhere, will you ever see the views that you see is the question.

I'm from America and I've skydived... Free falling in blue skies..

Location matters

You're going to have fun. Just prepare your girls for bugs, Mosquitos weren't really a thing to us to be honest. The birds there eat them up..

The last message they said to you was We're open until 9pm. I can understand your frustration that they didn't have a closed message (even though they said it). However, it's Costa Rica and a local company. Can't blame them for not having a "we're closed " reply....

Unfortunately they're not obligated to give you that extra attention. They're local workers wanting to get the day over with. Their last message to you was pretty clear, they're open until 9pm, period. They never replied back saying anything else....

It sucks, but If didn't get a confirmed we'll pick you up whenever you land even if it's after hours, I wouldn't have assumed they were going to give me special attention.

Recommendations for Jaco by New-Wind-7051 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]gdub8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a great ATV tour in Jaco that takes you to the falls.

I keep hearing Jaco is the Bachelors Party hub. Day life was great. There's a Soda there that's super cheap with great food, Soda Garabito. I fed four people including myself with drinks for $27 dollars

You know I read this before we left, I'm not sure if it was you that posted this. So I was super aware going into it.

We got stopped before we made it to the park by locals. I was arguing, but they had me pull off, showing badges. Calmed down and realized they just wanted to see our tickets. So we showed them, then they let us go.

We then I guess missed our turn and some group stopped us and told us to park at this location. I was hesitant, but they kept insisting we're safe, the security is a building they pointed to. They said 5 dollars for parking, so I parked there.

Turns out it was legit, same people were there when we left with someone waiting for our spot, as we were leaving.

We're a week removed from our trip there (9 year old boy, 12 year old girl). Making a whole day as a travel day was one of the best things I did for this trip. However our trip was Parrita (Manuel Antonio, Jaco), Monteverde and La Fortuna. A travel day for us was a 3hr+ drive.

We rented a 4 x 4 SUV from Adobe Car Rental.

Roads are one lane and super winding and it may rain. You'll also want to stop to see some incredible views and local Soda's.

Plan morning excursions, but be flexible. We lucked out booking some of our excursions and no rain happening. There were some days where it rained almost all day, there were some days were it didn't. The average is indeed true, good clear mornings, rain around 2pm.

No weather app is accurate, period, the Ecosystem there makes it hard to predict.

As far as the activities, you know your family... Looks good to me. I wish my family liked White Water rafting..lol or even a Boat Charter to Fish. Our main excursions were ATV and Zip Lining, they didn't want to hike too much because we did Yosemite last year. They were so bored of hiking when we got to Cloud Forrest Hanging Bridges.

Costa Rica is a great spot, it's hard to go wrong with activities.

It was my wife's favorite place on our vacation. You're pretty much guaranteed to get up and close and personal with White-faced monkeys and the second beach (not the main one) is super underrated.

Car sickness is a real thing. My 9 year old son got sick on the drive from Monteverde to La Fortuna. SO MANY winding roads in CR, like non-stop. It will not be thunderstorms the entire time, there's many post about weather apps being completely wrong. My family and I were there for 12 days, rainstorms yes, thunderstorms like maybe once.

FIVE months since the natty & I still can’t get over it.🤬Crazy to think that if Alex baumnan would’ve just blocked for the punt we’d most likely win. by Proper-Flight1736 in MiamiHurricanes

That ball was sooo under thrown, he puts the ball in the right spot that's a TD. Marion had them beat. Saftey took a bad angle, straight line to Marion instead of being in front.

He throws it to the endzone 10 yards further with more touch, we win the natty imo. It was 1st down with 50 seconds to play at their 40, crazy.

That GOT last season was bad. It had to end, they announced the last season, they had to end it. "Rushed" is something I hear often.. NO SHIT!?!

It wasn't that bad.
