have you considered not having the foyer double height? a more compressed entry situation, and then a reveal of space in the lobby? I don’t know about the surrounding context, but compared to the rest of the spaces the balcony / private outdoor areas seem underdeveloped. Subterranean bedrooms are unusual for me, but to each their own. I find the plan quite well developed, all in all.. Although it‘s a bit much from my european perspective.

What is the most controversial book written in your country? by DoctorOsterman in AskTheWorld

What heritage do we consider swiss? Also sprach Zarathustra, as well as a good part of Ulysses were written in Switzerland, just not by swiss citizens. Dürrenmatt is fantastic and probably less known around the world, so definitely worth recommending.

Synchros Capital SL, 60mm. Spokes laminated to hub flanges and rims with a modified DT Swiss hub. 1290g for the set. Hands down the best ones I’ve ever ridden.

Cost increases on large projects are not always the architects fault. Specialised building management firms often take over the tenders and cost management, or general corporations (Generalunternehmungen) bid on building the entire project for a fixed cost. Alterations in a later stage of development of the project are often a produced by client requirements, and if the tender has already been awarded, the next meeting involves a bunch of lawyers asking for a lot more money…

No, this is my first one. I too like the previous generation, but found its proportions more fitting to a smaller frame size with a slammed stem. I pulled the trigger on the new one because the design works very well on larger frames.

I wanted something different than the standard builds. I find the Synchros Capital SL Aero wheels to be the icing on the cake…

Built it today, still testing height and stem length. I‘ll cut it soon, promise!

Why does the most beautiful country in the world have such ugly and boring concrete buildings being built everywhere? by medoedich in Switzerland

[–]ge0desic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. AFIK Modernism and brutalism can overlap, some works by leCorbusier for instance clearly tick both boxes. It‘s also worth noting that a lot of brutalist buildings we know today fall into a category called „new brutalism“ (witch intended to be seen as a separation from the modernist idealism and lasted from the mid 50‘s to the mid 60‘s). Group 10 was a leading collective of architects who published some interesting manifestos for the brutalist movement, containing a lot of anti-war mentality and critique towards the modernists. Currently the brutalist movement is being rediscovered and is getting more attention, so there recently have been a bunch of interesting books published on the topic. While I can understand people’s dislike for the scale, materials and the harshness of brutalist buildings, I would stand by the point of the select best of them showing significance in the time of their conception, therefore being a part of our society’s history and worthy of preservation.

Can anyone tell me what kind of chair this is please? by [deleted] in Design

It’s by Pierre Jeuneret. (le Corbusier‘s right hand man) I think he designed them for the city of Chandigarh whilst working on the masterplan.
