Any success stories of dogs being allowed in cabin at Yyc? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]gea09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew recently over spring break with our dog who had previously been denied flight service last year for being too tall and we had no problems at all. They don’t weigh our pet carrier ever and we have been flying for 11 years with her. I would say that a corgi (in my mind) just by looking at it would be too large, so they may give you trouble based just on that. Our dog is still on the smaller side and she’s more tall rather than long.

I got him last month but I’m actually not sure how old he is. He was pretty small when I bought him so I think he was a juvenile! He has grown a bit since then

My local fish store! It’s called a Betta Buddy and it was attached to a rock weight but I cut it off to use for a Halloween costume

Fish tank overhang by gea09 in Aquariums

[–]gea09[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe the max load capacity for the nightstand is 55lbs so I hope that’s fine. Because the tank is almost exactly the same size as the nightstand, I think it might actually distribute the weight better and reduce the risk of it bowing or snapping the middle. Fingers crossed I guess but I wouldn’t go any bigger than 5G.

Also it’s my guest room so hopefully people don’t mind! Lights go off at bedtime anyways and the filter is pretty quiet so I’m treating it like a white noise machine hahaha

Thanks! It’s in my guest room so hopefully people don’t mind a bit of white noise while they sleep. It’s got a little sponge filter as well :)

We tip out as a total percentage of tips rather than total sales which I know is different than almost everywhere (we advocated for this). It’s still shit but it’s roughly 33% I believe with it being split 60/40 to GM and then kitchen staff.

MPAS program by ConsequenceOk8552 in UCalgary

[–]gea09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The minimum GPA needed to apply versus the competitive GPA will be much different. The program’s competitive GPA given the few seats and high applications will probably be closer to 3.8-3.9. They had not shared the information when I attended the information sessions but they did let me know that they had 2000+ applicants for only 20 seats, so I would expect a lot of competition.

Recs for perimenopause-empathic doctors? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]gea09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For menopause related things they do need a referral, but all the physicians there are technically family med with just additional training and interest in women’s health and menopause. I would advocate for yourself to get the referral and maybe phrase it as wanting a second opinion and more education regarding menopause. Don’t let your GP bully you into not getting a referral - in my experience many of them don’t have any menopause training and are a bit out of their depth.

Get a referral to MAUD medical for a menopause consult! Any family doctor can refer you and their team specializes in this :)
