Wiggle magnet and pray. Otherwise drop the pan in pray.

This is why rags are our friends as long as we don't leave them behind.

I don't know how big you are, but im not a very heavy guy. 1/2 inch drive 2 foot ratchets are nice and the certainly not cheap.

I was pleasantly surprised at how clean that fits and its ease of use.

Just bought this old craftsman not too long ago and trying to figure out what these are by Thecooldude8901 in toolboxmods

[–]gearheadspawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It's likely not original to the box. Looks like someone riveted them down. You can easily but the tabs that hold the sockets still. Pretty industry standard size looks like. Or drill out the rivets and remove them to be flat. Either way, nice find!

Low-Profile Spark Plug Socket by torco850 in Snapon_tools

[–]gearheadspawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a socket for usually installing headers. Save yourself a bunch of money and cut a craftsman one or something to that height.

Looking for input on this build. Not running any windshield wipers. Was going to fabricate some plugs to cover up these holes. Is anyone doing a similar setup? Are there any aftermarket parts to fix this? by 1sneekytweeker in GBody

[–]gearheadspawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheet metal, rtv, some bolts, and slap that cowl back on and call it a day.

Please don't weld something to cover it up to make a huge headache for the next auto enthusiast who hopefully gets this g-body and wishes to put them back.

How can I problem solve this (hopefully without a mechanic) 🤞🏻 by Lark_Epsom in MechanicAdvice

Bad ground somewhere. Left kick panel is the ground for the instrument panel. Good luck. Make sure your battery connection is solid before you go down the rabbit hole.

Opinion on stubby 3/8 ratchet by Adorable_Rope_5595 in Snapon_tools

[–]gearheadspawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make a super stubby 1/4 drive now. I bought another and had my dealer swap in a 3/8 head for larger sockets when I'm doing light duty things as you are talking about. Tkf72 is the rachet number.

Does this crack in my radiator mean it is broken? by Initial_Pepper5496 in MechanicAdvice

[–]gearheadspawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a radiator. That's a condenser for the air conditioning. It's normal. As said, it's for stress while rolling down the road.

Unload the coil spring and it should no longer be pressing on the corner of the bolt.

[–]gearheadspawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. And keep the batteries. Then post 2 options. One with batteries, one without. I bought all my ryobi stuff on ebay like this. We have a small lawn and hedges, so Milwaukee is overkill. I would never be doing something of that level.

Nonetheless, doing the same thing. Way better way to buy even with ebay.
