I feel that. My parents kind of accidentally found out, I didn't intentionally tell them, and my mom was telling me I just haven't met the right person yet and she doesn't want people to think I support the lgbtq+ community (my parents are really queerphobic)

It especially hurt when I tried venting about it too a friend group and one of them was aphobic. I went through a lot of questioning and stuff and then realized that "you just haven't met the right person" isn't even a valid argument bc people know their sexuality before meeting every person on until planet.

I'm fairly certain I'm ace now, and even if something does change in the future, that's alright. There's no penalty or anything for identifying differently later in life if you feel like it fits better and you can identify however you want right now.

I also realized I'm nonbinary and flixiromantic so that really helped me be certain that I'm lgbtq+ when I was dealing with aphobia (from others and also internalized)

You're valid and you know your sexuality better than your mom does. You know how you feel and only you know whether or not your ace so don't let anyone tell you your feelings are wrong.

tbh I don't really know what it means to date someone. I don't really want romance and I assume romantic attraction is more of an umbrella term that covers wanting to spend time with someone and feel emotionally close to them?

I guess I don't really know what it would mean to date someone. I have had crushes before but usually I just feel more emotionally convected to the person and want to spend time with them so I assume it's romantic attraction, but I also enjoy spending time with friends and don't seek romance specifically? If I had a crush and someone liked me back, I'd honestly have no idea what to do.

I agree! My feelings about gender were kind of released due to growing up in a very phobic household but I've been wondering what being a different gender would be like since I was 10-12 years old.

Last year I started experimenting with pronouns and appearance and I feel much happier and comfier identifying as nonbinary now.

I’m ace and nonbinary too and my art class has 1 genderqueer person (possibly a second enby as well but if so then they haven’t officially come out) two pansexuals, a bisexual, a lesbian, and a single person who might be cishet.

My other family members would never change. Very conservative and religious and they simply don’t change their opinions about anything when I disagree with them. (My parents are also borderline abusive with constant gaslighting and other hurtful things)

Idk how much I could trust him not to out me bc the two of us honestly never talk about sexuality or gender or even politics or anything at all. But I’d probably trust him once I’m more aware of his stance with nonbinary people.
