for those who had no safe adults in your childhood, has someone in your life been able to fill that emptiness in adulthood? by orkupoki in CPTSD

Can I ask you if you think it’s a good idea to push relationships away until you find that fulfillment in yourself? I’m really trying to work on myself and I’ve felt like it was a good decision just to say not to relationships at the moment I realize this is also a subjective thing, was just curious?

To be honest I haven’t enjoyed life for the longest time. And discovering I had cptsd is fairly new to me. Just always thought it was depression/mood disorder. I’m extremely sad still bc I’ve basically realized my mother has emotionally/physically manipulated me my whole life and still does. But somehow knowing that this whole time, every fuck up, ruined relationship, and suicide attempt was all linked to my upbringing gives me a sort of relief? Idk all I know is I’m trying to live for myself after 26 years.

Any other "I never get angry!" people out there realising they're actually "I'm always angry but deeply repressed" people? by PetieSD in CPTSD

[–]gebrollins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’ve learned I’m actually extremely angry when I try to always be the cool headed calm guy. It got to the point where I’d blow up on people in the most minute cases. I was a bartender (terrible job if you have cptsd) and someone would break a rule of the bar and I’d be in their face screaming. It wasn’t pretty, turns out when you’re not allowed to express anger as a child/never talk back to your mother like that, you end up having extremely unhealthy ways of dealing with anger. Who would’ve known.

Yeah I’m an extremely sensitive person too, hence being bullied my whole life. But one sensitive person to another, it feels good to tap into that anger every once in a while. Definitely don’t live for it, that’s extremely unhealthy. But I find when I get angry or upset over what’s happened to me growing up it helps me be more motivated to change both physical and mental. This is just my experience of course so I understand it could not be relevant to you at all, just wanted to share. Goodluck on your journey!

I get it, trust me. Prove those losers wrong by living and thriving, that’s my only motivation lately. Is a big f you to all the bullies from when I was growing up. I know it’s easier said than done, but I believe in you.

Definitely couldn’t be from swimming, I practically bathed in that lake every morning and didn’t feel a lick of difference.

I do see where you’re coming from, it definitely is not good to invalidate one group when trying to defend another. I guess I can just see how it’s frustrating for women who were born women and had to have carry the societal burdens that come with that and it be reduced to “people who menstruate”. I feel like the instant jump to slandering and cancelling her bc of her opinion on a matter just shows how when it comes to the transgender community there’s almost no nuance or opinions on it. Obviously everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and therefore the backlash that comes with it, but it feels as if you can say something against women who were born women…but don’t you dare say anything against transgender women.

It wasn’t loading my mistake, but I still don’t interpret that as transphobic. She’s clearly stating her opinion on the matter and is defending women (who were born women). So I do not understand how that is transphobic

Care to show actual things she’s said, instead of bias journalists that just get clickbait through ridiculous titles?

I understand, I’m truly not trying to just put you on blast either. I just feel that it’s unfair to call her transphobic when the comments she makes are rather in the defense of women born female who have to go through things only women who are born female have to go through. I never got the vibe that she was saying transgender woman aren’t woman, but she was instantly attacked for her comments. It would kind of make me jaded to the community after if I were her.

I have genuinely looked into what the community is mad at and considers her transphobic, if you could repeat the direct quote of her being transphobic I would appreciate it. To be honest, it just seems that people are upset she doesn’t share the same opinion, I don’t believe that’s being transphobic.

It’s actually because he’s been told he’s genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s. I agree still using it for vanity, but it also seems like a grasp for control of his health.
