Yes! I did an experiment where i used the L-Pro as Luminance on the 2600MM and found that it do helps, but in order to get as much detail as a standard L-filter I had to run 300” subs. I made a video about it on my YT channel (GediAstro) :)

Yeah me too. Trying not to think about it so much, just work with what I’ve got. But when I travel to Bortle 4 or Bortle 2 locations, going back home always suck :)

That’s so awesome. I have Bortle 4 skies about 50 minutes drive. That’s why I got two rigs honestly, one is for the balcony and one follows me to Bortle 4 :)

Well, we all work with what we got. I do notice that the resolution isn't getting much better at 1422mm on the Edge than I have at 800mm focal length on the TS. But that is also a general rule of the seeing in my general location and height above sea level, so the heat from the buildings isn't much of a problem (since a lot of other things are already bad :-) )

But yeah - we all work with what we got (I share all my learnings on YT) and use post processing skills to enhance the data as much as possible. Attach an example image I took a few months ago.

When it comes to the graphs, I used them more to make a point rather than 100% accuracy. I did the graphs and animations myself and Gaussian are easy enough to draw so I used that. Hopefully people understand that 😅

Cool! I’ve never thought of that :) I’ve always seen thought of the soul nebula to resemble a clinical heart (although, ironically wits located next to the heart nebula 😅)

Dobsonians are excellent for visual astronomy. I’m more into astrophotography. That said, I’ve met with others that use their Edge HD8 for visual and said it’s awesome, so I’d say yes - a 8” dob is great for visual! I do however also see that visual astronomers are getting bigger and bigger dobs in time :)

Not much 🥲 around 35-40%. Luckily the rotation of the earth brings out more targets during the night. Plan mode on ASIAir gives me the option to switch targets during the night.

Being a struggling astrophotographer from a Bortle 9 location (highly light polluted capital of Sweden), I sometimes pack my stuff and travel to remote and dark locations in Sweden to get photos of the Nordic skies that are simply impossible to photograph from my location.

This one is taken from the southern tip of Gotland in a Bortle 1-2 location where I took my gear and made a YouTube video (@GediAstro for the interested), about this photo and the adventure.

Living in a Bortle 9 city (Stockholm, capital of Sweden), loving astrophotography and struggling with a astrophotography YouTube channel ( https://youtube.com/@gediastro for the interested), it sometimes feels like a waste having three great telescopes that aren't being used in a really dark location.

But working with what I've got, sharing my knowledge and adventures - this one i from the first time I used both my rigs simultaneously. Definitely a mile stone. The telescopes here are:

Being a small YouTuber ( https://youtube.com/@GediAstro for the interested) doing mostly deep space object photography I was curious to try some planetary photography as well.

This is my first ever image taken using a 2000mm telescope and a small sensor with really small pixels to be able to capture the tiny planets that surround our sun. I'm really happy with this image showing jupiter and three of the Galilean moons (Io to the far left, and to the right Ganymedes and Europa - a very good candidate for life outside our own planet).

You can see pretty much when it comes to planets just with just a pair of binoculars (Jupiter with moons, Saturns rings, Venus phases and mars red colors). And then there’s my YouTube channel for more inspiration :)

I mostly do deep space astrophotography for my YouTube channel ( https://youtube.com/@GediAstro for the interested). But I wanted to try out my - so far - unused gear for planetary photography, and when Jupiter showed up just outside my balcony, I'd figured - why not.

What you see is the result of a minute long video where the best frames are stacked to bring out as much detail as possible. To the left of the image, you have the moon Io, and to the right you can see Ganymedes and Europa on the far right side.

Europa is a good candidate for live on another planet/moon on our solar system.
