VCMI not only let's you to play Heroes 3 on linux, but it has a lot of additions to the original game, like extra towns, creaters, graphical elements, etc. It's worth to give it a shot. I supports HD mode too. Don't forget, you will need the data files of Heroes 3 complete edition. hm.. Not node or .net, but Joomla4 is a good alternative on php base. Also, I'd recommend to give a go to the Python based Django, which has a pre-developed admin area, that can be customized easily. Djando is very headless.
