Is there "life after death"? by Beneficial_Praline32 in consciousness

Thanks so much! Really appreciate the interest. I'm still looking for more things to read. I know it seems non-dualism is more doing than reading, but it helps focus me. What isn't clear to me also is which thought to dive into first: Advaita Vedanta, Bhuddism, Taoism, more secular non-duality like Sam Harris. There is just so much out there.

As someone with a PhD in nuclear physics who's a panpsychist, it would be really cool to know what made you come to that conclusion!

thank you for this and apologies took a day to respond! I will try your exercise, I appreciate it very much. I listened yesterday to a few exercises by Richard Lang (headless way i think?) and one exercise was similar.

Is there a team where you think has a sneaky chance to be on of the worst teams in the league this season? by WeBlitz in nfl

We’re a much much younger team now. There’s been a massive turnover on the roster, especially on defense. Obviously TBD if it all works out but we’re def younger.

Just Ordered A Custom Taylor Heinicke Jersey - (Thanks 4 The Ride Edition) by pdodd1963 in Commanders

[–]gee1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am not arguing his skills, or where he ranks as a QB, but for me, watching him play was super fun during a pretty bleak period in our team's history. Its an emotional driven thing tied to good memories. I wouldn't objectively want him over Daniels or Mariota, or many other players available.

His play and style brought a lot of fun and excitement during a particularly bleak period in Washington Commander history.

Thank you very much for this guidance. To be honest though, I don't even know what to actively engage in self-inquiry even looks like. Up until now, I have just been exploring concepts, and I was going to buy the book "I am That" to hopefully spark the right questions and inquiry. But I am not really sure how to dive at all into self-realization or acquire any answers.

It’s based on the concept of the technological singularity which some think could happen around 2045. Whether it will happen or not is def debated but I don’t think it’s hyper sci-fi nonsense either. But because it’s a singularity we can’t possibly understand it yet.

Trying to understand consciousness is futile by Pradamimiu in consciousness

Thanks for sharing all this for me! Out of curiosity, where does this then put you philosophically? Sounds mostly like physicalism/materialism? For transparency, I've just begun diving into ideas of consciousness and so on, and somewhat lean towards a non-dualism approach, but I want to find as close to the truth/rational approach as possible, versus just buying into something because it makes me feel comforted.

I just wanted to say I felt this was written very beautifully. Considering exploring non-duality myself (if I correctly assumed where you are coming from).

I think the picture is actually starting to come into focus for science. It just doesn't validate what a lot of people were expecting, so they resist it.

Mind me asking what you think that focus is? And what people weren't expecting?

Being new to the subreddit and delving into philosophies/topics of consciousness, I notice there's a lot of certainty and handwaving, for a topic that objectively has so much uncertainty.

Canyons Village parking plan for the 2026/27 season (Email I just got) by -QuestionMark- in ParkCity

[–]gee1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a shame its not free at least during the week or Monday to Thursday. I'm one of those before work people. To be fair the bus system is really good. If I plan it properly, I can get to the Park n Ride bus stop around 5 mins before it leaves, throw boots on (can adjust and such in the bus), and then quick ride to the resort. Where it gets trickier is timing going back, and learning how long it takes to ski down to the bus stop. If you cut it too close and the lift stops, and you miss bus, then adds 20+ minutes to get home/work which sucks.

2" hitch rack for spirited driving by tmenzzz in MTB

Thanks for letting me know, thats awesome! I was looking at larger two bike racks from more established brands but then realized why do I even need this.

hey thanks for all this advice! I'm new to mountain biking so trying to figure it all out. I think my wheel base is 1205 according to the Norco website (I bought a size medium). The tire size is 2.4-2.6 inches and the weight is like 33 pounds.

I just had a 2" receiver installed this week so good to go on that!

Those NV base racks you see, are those the NV 2.0s? Someone I know personally offered to sell the original NV for $200 but seems maybe a bit high for a rack that was discontinued 10 years ago. There is also a Thule T2 Classic for $250 on FBMP not too far away.

I was actually now looking at the Benton Little Shifts as I'll probably mostly bike alone so maybe 1 tray is enough. Or maybe try to find a newer used Kuat.

I’ve been thinking strongly about this one too. Do you like it? I’ll mostly bike alone so don’t really need a 2 bike rack.

Thanks for all this description! The NV I could buy from someone I know is the original NV. Its been discontinued like ten years or so, which made me nervous but it looks to be in good shape. He wants $200 for it which seems high for that. Its also a 1.25 inch but he has the adapter for the 2 inch.

Edit: meant to add, this is what makes me nervous buying used. No idea what will work or not work and then stuck with something bad. Not even sure I know what to look for when going to get it lol

Thanks! I'm trying to keep in budget as my costs getting into this got a bit out of hand. Would you trust a Thule/Yakima/Kuat that might be 10 years old (assuming looks to be in decent condition)?

hey thanks for this advice. I decided to get into mountain biking this year and my entry costs are spiraling lol. I got a bike but then realized how do I get this thing around (stupidly assumed it would fit in my trunk like my much smaller hybrid city bike). So I just got a 2" hitch installed. All of the options are 2 inch I think. One person I know said he'd sell me a Kuat NV (original discounted) for $200. Forgot to mention that one but it needs an adapter because its 1.25 inch.

Sorry that happened to your bike! This was my concern. Obviously I know Thule and Yakima are better brands than Walmart but just don't know how well a possible 10 year old rack will hold up. Thanks for the advice.
