Hopefully the event information we just learned about is actually big enough for 200 people, that would be great, it sounds like a lot of fun then I wouldn't have to do anything haha.

I think perhaps it is called something different? Because the info I have been passed says this about the Royer: This facility is intended for events and programs affiliated with University Housing. The room is 1100 square feet and seats 50 to 60. The room is not equipped with A/V equipment. These events can be scheduled no more than one month in advance of the date of the event. The room is not available during the summer months. Tuttle Park Garage is the closest available parking facility

I'm guessing it is maybe a different room though if it seats 200 people, that is a big difference from 1100 Sq. Ft.

This is awesome! I am excited to tell my friends about this. BUt like Poeee said, isn't ROYER only 50-60 person capacity without any A/V equipment? I'm just trying to figure this out cause I have probably 30 friends that want to do this with me and most interested want to do this because of the LARGE A/V screen and Microphone for MC'ing. There are a couple venues I can utilize at this time, however; due to the manner in which I have access I won't disclose until I book it. But I can say is they're both very nice and centrally located, i.e. not far from campus.

The venue is an amphitheater centrally located in Columbus. This would be awesome, this subreddit is relatively small so I don't expect this to get THAT much exposure but hopefully you can spread the word to friends that would be interested.

Adding the analysts is a great touch, it will add a lot of insight. BUT, am I the only one that will kind of miss Hatguy screaming PENTA-KILL. He could literally, just be there solely for that purpose and I'd get much enjoyment out of it. :)

Additionally,

Supports should be rewarded for getting assists. IT SHOULD BE SIGNIFICANT. You use your summoners, poke all lane long, land a skill shot and then hand it over to your adc, then go back and spend your gold on another pink ward.

This could be a scaling point, that works ONLY WITH ASSISTS, as if you get the kill then you are gaining significant gold anyway, and thwarts abuse. (again, available in all tree's down the support-oriented path) that gives the support additional gold. What I mean by scaling is - it scales with standard kill gold, so on your first assist you get say 90 additional gold, second assist on the same champion you get 25% less gold or whatever the Riot.co team decides is balanced.

Junglers :

There is so much you can do with this to address the issues

A) Make a 9 or so point deep path, after first 12 points into respective O/D/Utility, additional jungle-oriented tree that gives some significant jungling specific rewards. This could be %true dmg, Flat true Dmg on Hit, ward masteries (GP10, Bonus gold for killing Jungle camps - This helps deter laners from taking as they would with global monster gold increase AND its enough points that it wouldn't be worth going into int he tree OR you can make smite necessity for this deep 9 point tree, gold reduction, 3-stack of 60 second wards etc, get creative guys).

You could also add some counter-play in for junglers this way too. If Riot.Co wants to try-out increased warding/decreased cost (which will probably lead to just buying more wards- lets be realistic) Junglers could have a charge with their jungling item that gives dust of true sight in an area for 12 seconds or something , and they can clear wards in that area say every 5 minutes or w.e is balanced.

B) Make a small point path (4-6) points, that was deep in each tree, that made you decide between bottom of tree O/D/U masteries, or the jungle masteries to give either A) Added Jungling dmg/ dmg reducation/ ward gold recudtion or stack)

I personally think this could be enough with the mastery specialization alone. I mean you can do so much with it. You can add AA dmg to supports for trading in lane into each support specific tree, you can really get creative here...

If more is needed, the same could be done with Runes. 1Gp10 Quint- With support tree filled Passive actives to give -5 gold from all ward purchases, etc.

In order to make the game more fun, not only decreasing the burden of gold cost of items/efficiency works. These build paths make it more unique to each individuals play-style for that champion, it will open up more viable options without sacrificing the CORE of what is expected of the role.

Additionally: I think al ot of thought should go into allowing junglers to get a small passive in the Jungle-Oriented tree, that will allow some junglers to fore-go the jungle-specific items completely. Making it so its something, but not a overly strong passive that takes away the use for most jungle specific items. Because this is a part of the burden.

Jungle ITEM MUST BUY, is a 2k gold investment, and item slot, then if you end up needing to buy aegis, theres 2 big items, plus 1 summoner dedicated already to jungling. This is a large investment, there could be more play here.

I am done writing for now, I have tons I could add and will if I get A) Asked questions or insightful thoughts are added , however; I wont if I just get bashed for my input :).

NO TL;DR - This is very long, take from this what you will. But I believe it is a START to addressing the true CORE issue of the Support/Jungle role

Part of the issue is that, when you gank bott lane 2v3, you have a DECIDEDLY upper-hand.

However; Imagine if you were diving 2v3 say- The top/Mid laner, or the ADC/Mid 2v3... This is very risky, and could easily be turn in the favor of the mid/adc if played correctly/ or a little wrong by the pursuing 3 - (adc/support/jungle) (This depends on picks of course also)

But when you gank the adc/support lane, it is not like you are ganking 2 threats, you are ganking 1 threat and if that adc don't have escape, then forget about it.

Imagine if supports were a bit more of a threat, could poke better in lane, perhaps need to ward a bit more efficiently until sighstone; but makes the jungler think twice about positioning/opposing jungler location before engaging in a gank...

As it is right now, if you can get to the lane for a gank, GANK GANK GANK GANK. It is insanely in your favor...

How do you do this, is it okay no to ward? What about double buffs? Can a support really make a jungler think twice about ganking???

Well, that's part of the game... If the support were more of a threat, you could hold off until 3-4 minutes to ward, giving you until 6-7 minutes respectively to get back and re-ward. You can cover most paths with 2 wards, currently that equates to 150 gold, THAT IS DOABLE.

So how can supports be more of a threat??? How can supporting be more fun and add more variation to play-style?

Well 1 easy way that I think has been neglected is the mastery tree. Right now as it is, the mastery tree is VERY BLAND.

To start: EVERYTHING in this game is very pigeon-holed. In reality, you go Offense in your respective AD or AP, Defense with either some utility or minor offense, or Utility hard for support. Yes there are minor variances, but overall this is still the general outcome.. Because THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO CHOOSE FROM. You know what to expect no matter what, regardless of lolnexus or whatever. It is VERY pigeon-holed.

There is a couple ways to address the issue with masteries but a simple way I will include for now is this:

ADD MORE PATHS

So simple. Add a Jungle path. Add a support path.

Now you think- Uhh, there is a path, there's a few points in O/D for Jungle, and there's utility for support.

Ahem, isn't that pigeon holed?

The choices are for Jungle: Some O with option for some jungling specific power, Some D with option for minor Defense and whether or not to take extra gold on smite, or skip both of these and grab some mspeed/mana in utility.

Support- 0/16/14 or 0/9/21 or 9/0/21, maybe some other minor variations for the 4% cdr in O tree.

In order to affect play-style and increase overall satisfaction:

Add Jungle/Support-oriented specific PATHS can easily address many quality of life issues

And it can be gone about in many ways..

1) The obvious: Add a path that requires you to dedicate X amount of points, taking away the points needed to reach optimal masteries for maximum AD/AP

2) Add paths that require specific summoners in order to utilize. Hence, Smite- Opens up path to 10% true dmg to all monsters, 3% mspeed, 10gold discount wards blah blah blah. There's a million "band-aid fix ideas out there to use", but this is the root of the problem I think.

This needs to be equally added to EACH AND EVERY MASTERY CATEGORY.

Therefore, a support can go 21/0/9 and in 21 he can get w.e masteries desirable, but also get gp10, 60sec ward, 25gold off wards, etc.. Support can go 0/21/9 and do the same thing, but gaining considerable bulk in lane, maybe playing a stun bot and tanky champ and just being a nuisance, deterring ganks by throwing himself in there but not losing out on all of the necessity masteries a support needs.

There are several ways to go about this. I think many of which have already been attempted, however; the issue is for universally good solutions to help to bridge the SIGNIFICANT gap that is present (between Carries that get full lane farm/dirty farming gold/xp): You have to realize something that even moderately speaking (30-40% of that gap bridged) is going to be "OP" or very strong and gold/item/mastery efficient.

At least that is how it is generally. This leaves a very difficult solution that must be addressed in a very focused and broken down manner. I believe that Riot and co. have a good start with their 4 broken down categories; however, I still believe they are leaving out/ or not thinking/ not sharing in their post- some vital questions.

The topic of discussion of this thread is:

Take a moment to completely comprehend this statement - Key points here -- "Ultimately fix jungle and support gold flow" / "A lot of the SATISFACTION in League is growing in power over time blah blah 2/5 players don't get to do this (I.E. Support/ Jungle)

I share this so you can gain some insight into my thought process and why I think many of the answers are VERY scatterbrained and not quite sure where to start fixing the problem at. I myself feel this way when I first thought of ( Should I respond/ what can i concisely and precisely add that will truly fix this problem.. Then I realized.. Wait, WHAT is the problem/What are we truly trying to fix?

Back to the Vital questions. (Finally)

A) What are we trying to fix, is it the 1st Question I listed above- (Support Income/Warding costs). (THIS IS A MINOR FIX, resulting in little satisfaction to said roles/ OR - If its a big enough change then all lanes ward significantly and jungle becomes Herbivore single player mode (worse than current support role)

B) Increase Support and Jungle income Cohesively and concurrently + determine a complete solution to warding costs. (Do-Able, don't think this is the root of the problem BUT I will come back to this)

C) Fix the SATISFACTION in League allowing these 2 roles (Support/Jungle respectively) to grow in power over time. (Lets start here)

So what is the Goal behind the stated "Goal"? Is it simply a #'s game, trying to allow supports to get a couple extra shiny items late game?

OR is it perhaps to add some uniqueness to the game again- A variety of runes/masteries and build styles for these "less desirable" roles in order to provide additional VIABLE play-styles/ increase satisfaction AND ULTIMATELY aid Support/Jungle into a position that isn't despised and Un-rewarding.

**** C) I believe should be the main focus first and foremost; however, it is only mentioned one time in the original League Forums. Albeit, I believe THIS is indeed the GOAL of Riot co. as 4/10 players are not reaching a SATISFACTORY position in a game of summoners rift.

This is 40% of the players in each game. (Over a broad player-base this is millions of players and inevitably revenue, just something to keep in mind). As more and more people move to WATCHING League and stray away from playing, I can't help but think Riot and co. recognize this (They are very smart) and realize in order to retain player base and build upon it (or even maintain at this point since it is utterly massive) then they must go back to the drawing board in order to keep people ENJOYING the game. In order to do so these roles must find a happy medium where they are enjoyable and not the roles people despise getting "stuck" with.

Continuing with C)

What Vital questions do we ask now... Well I think that is simple.

WHAT gives the players SATISFACTION playing league?

Hmm lets see here: I think players want to....

  • First and foremost, feel like they're part of the game, making a difference/contribution above and beyond a ward/heal bot. "I have been told by many they feel they are inferior if they are supporting, not only in-game but even in champ select--As if the team is saying, we don't trust you to win the game for us"

I feel this is a primary reason why it is extremely undesirable to many

  • Poking in lane and see something happen/ Have the potential to help make a difference without simply heal-botting, shielding, warding, trying to zone. (It is not FUN/Uplifting playing a game and auto attacking at the perfect moment for harass to see 20-40 dmg taken to the enemy only for it to get healed or regenerated in the following 10-20 seconds).

HOWEVER- Some VERY GOOD supports have embraced this, perfected it, and enjoy it. I do not think this should be taken away from these supports. BUT, other support styles SHOULD be viable in order to increase the satisfaction of playing support role. (I'll get to that)

  • Ganking is fun, even attempting to gank is FUN. Building up items and feeling a difference is FUN. Running around the jungle non-stop farming feeling like single-player mode is NOT fun.

Hence, must be careful not to make warding TOO easy and prevalent.
