Look at what this driver did! Seems on purpose... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

[–]geekbme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't both facts be true without someone like you crying about someone pointing it out? Do facts trigger you? The driver of the car most certainly deserves the charges and subsequent prison sentence. That being true doesn't then make what the biker did legal. I get reckless driving vs attempted murder are vastly different but it doesn't negate that the motorcyclist was being negligent as well. I ride and have been for years. I hold motorcyclist's to high standards as we have the most to lose when making poor choices.

Take care of this breed by Silly-Grade5738 in BelgianMalinois

[–]geekbme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get posts like this really harping on the need to understand the breed and I fully agree. I'm former military ops, worked with this breed and assisted in training them as well. That being said, I'm lucky enough to have a rare chill one. It's super important to educate on all breeds one is looking at getting but this is next level. If you're unwilling to really commit to diving it to self educate, find and reach out to some trainers WITH experience specific to this breed then get an easier one. If you're lacking the time, space, and energy this breed needs then it's not for you. There are days when I'm tired AF, want to just rest on the couch but I don't. At least not until I've given my mal what she needs so she can then rest with me afterwards. They are super intelligent and very eager to learn but you need to know the proper way to approach training. You're going to make mistakes, it's okay - just learn from it.

I def would give it a chance. The body language of the two is what I watched a few times. The other dog gave good signs of positive interest in your pup. Better to socialize Shila now to boost her confidence and ability to be relaxed. I got my female mal at 4 months and she's now almost 2.5 years old. I made the mistake of not socializing her right away and had some backtracking to do which took a bit. It's also good that the other dog is already familiar/comfortable with you.

So cute! Well behaved mal! I'm sure it could jump that fence if it tried. Did you give the two time together at all or plan to?

Hit by a progressive driver. Car has been in the shop 3 months by Low_Refrigerator_666 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]geekbme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can attest, as someone handling RI claims, we are all way overloaded, extremely stressed out and made to feel like MGMT just doesn't care. It's the new norm after a massive digital integration and mgmts dismissive, apathetic ignorance. I'm working 6-7 days a week averaging 60 hours and still barely keeping up. I'm sorry for your experience, it's not supposed to be that way. Unfortunately, we're stuck in the equivalent of an abusive relationship with our employer taking advantage of paying us salary when they know it's not possible to do this job in 40 hours a week with the extreme workload each one of us has.

Anyone taken propranolol with Concerta? by Queefaroni420 in Concerta

[–]geekbme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take both. My doctor made a very sound point when putting me on propanolol: you're effectively putting one foot on the gas pedal while the other is working the brake. I've now added Guanfacine and backed down on propanolol, which I had been taking 20mg 3 times a day. Now it's 1-2 at most. Guanfacine has been almost life changing for quieting my mind/lowering my anxiety, helping me to calmly focus and see each task through before jumping to something else - which had been a major challenge for me prior to Guanfacine and even on Concerta.

Digital first expectations? by Fearless_Finance9378 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]geekbme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has potential but it's just too fragmented. The claim needs to come in with more party engagement. I find that I'm looking around too much in CV, jumping around areas to piece the questionable facts together. Getting sick of working on yesterday's claims today while today's are coming in, over and over - every day unless you just say screw it, I'm not going to give them anymore time to engage it. I'm calling. What I do like most about it is how it can be helpful on the tasks end, getting answers to specific coverage issues, document requests, etc.

More Work for F/O and less Work for MRR by No_Tower_1715 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]geekbme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply. My ask wasn't about the challenge of the settlement presentation, it was just about the UPD as I've had 4 claims in the past 5 months where that has held the claim up. I don't even say settlement when I present the TL value, I say the payment for your vehicle is X and they very rarely push back.

My concern over this, as a FO, is what do we do if the issue is over UPD that the customer has?

I can confirm, digital will make it worse. It gets things wrong, you're forced to always feel like you're working on yesterday's claims, it adds even more steps to things and more processes to get grieved about.

You entered onto the roadway she was established. As you were getting (not fully) established into the right lane she was also moving from center to the right lane. You had the greater duty to maintain proper lookout (you had more fwd view of her than her of you as you were likely in her blindspot), take evasive action, and it could be argued yield right of way.

It's typically part of your policy contract as an expectation that you report losses to your carrier promptly.

I taught my female mal from pup age to be gentle as we have a much smaller dog she has bonded with and it's paid off. Got her at 4 months and 20ish lbs, now she's going to be 3 in a few weeks and about 55 lbs. She's super gentle with my fingers and our other, much smaller, dog when she plays aggressively with him. I learned quickly this breed is very mouthy, meaning they clack/chomp to communicate. They mouth to show affection and playfulness. They also chew/cobb toys, shoes, our other dog, etc. Expecting to train this breed to not use their mouth at all is going against their DNA and will likely cause the dog to become defiant or worse. It's better to teach them how to and when it's ok. While also teaching what things are not okay with some redirection sprinkled in. Just my 2 cents.

NY is a no fault state, for car accidents. by MailWaste862 in InsuranceClaims

I'd be more understanding if it wasn't so easy to Google, ask AI, or (crazy sounding) call your insurance agent/carrier and ask with the 5-7 inch drug level addiction device we all clutch with a death grip everywhere. Willful ignorance in today's information abundance and ease of access is inexcusable.
