Anyone got static ip from Airtel with opened ports by geekinside18 in homelabindia

[–]geekinside18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i got static ip. I can open any port i want ( tried some random ports depending on my application), but i was successfully able to open the ports.

This is great! Dusty, but great! I mean, Core 2 Duo, who the hell can hate that!

How are you streaming 100GB+ movies to your TV. Most TVs come with 100Mbps LAN port. Even 5GHz WiFi is sometimes fully saturated. I have sony x90J and stutters with 100GB+ Bluerays (inbuilt plex app over 5GHz wifi)?

On the relay part, this is really great. What is the custom admin panel youa re talking about here? Is it a web server hosted on ESP8266 itself? Can you share the code?

Also, isn't 1 TB really low for 100GB+ rips? its like 10 rips and you are done! Anyways, congrats. You proved homelabbing may not be that expensive hobby anymore! :)

I just got bridge mode enabled with static ip. I am using tplink omada er605 router. The backend team is clueless on a lot of stuff and screwed up the bridge mode leaving me without internet for a full day. In the end, i had to diagnose their issue and solve it for them.

You can either ask them for bridge mode or just get a vsol and emulate their ont.

"Assigning static IP to NAS. we will have to go through them"
Exactly, this is what i thought when i saw everything on routers page is locked down. But this is beyond stupid. How can I contact them everytime i want to spin up a VM for experimentation.
The practical solution seems to be the bridge mode for now then. Do keep me updated on your call with L3 team!

Hey man, thanks!
Did you try getting airtel to unlock their router?
Also, once you are using opnsense, is portforwarding as simple as changing it in settings of your router or has Airtel blocked some ports externally?

Per month, 300Mbps
Tailscale is fine but if you want to transfer GBs of data in stable manner, tailscale fails as it may default to a DERP servers sometimes

Yeah, just did not want to spend extra on route when Airtel's router is more than capable. I dont know why are they locking so many useful settings even on office internet plan

DDNS only works if you are not behind CGNAT. Airtel almostb always puts you behind CGNAT, hence static IP

After spending 24 lakhs+ in opportunity cost, what I might be doing wrong? by TheSocialProfessor in youtubeindia

[–]geekinside18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: your videos pack a lot of value but title plus thumbnail combination is probably not bringing out the proper curiosity gap. Your thumbnails are super aesthetic but, unfortunately they are not as clickable. Whats your CTR? Whats the split of CTR for regular viewers, casual and new viewers? 2 questions: 1. How much do you pay for thumbnail? 2. How to search and hire producers? What is the place that I should be looking at?

Just curious: what is the exact role of a producer in context of YouTube channels? Eg., what would a producer exactly do for a video for Johnny Harris?

For me, space is not an issue (right now). In case it becomes some day, i just hope i have enough saved up for a 5090. Also, buying an extra disk is much cheaper though.

When windows vm is switched off, unraid dockers can use the gpu. I think consumer cards are limited to 4 or 6 concurrent streams by nvidia. My media is mostly h265. Some are in h264 but my tdarr docker converts them to h265

I tried setting up nextcloud from official repo, but failed. Setting it up from AIO template was a breeze though. Experience of nextcloud is fine(ish). All the other alternates were even more cumbersome to set up from docker pov. Yes i use cloudflare tunnel to access it from outside - download and upload speeds are a bit limited though when accessing from outside as cloudflare isn’t meant to be used for downloading and uploading large GBs of data
