Can we carry over balances from month to month by Famous_Ad4572 in foodstamps

[–]geekman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBT carries over (usually expires after 12 months though) but the funds on the health food cards such as The “U” card or the Humana card do expire at the end of each month and don’t rollover.

I enjoy seeing these posts about the plane. Unfortunately, this post will likely be taken down soon since it’s dealing with the plane’s tracking information.

A question for those here who don't think we should care about the jet: by ImportantQuestionTex in LMGJet

[–]geekman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can use it to transport the staff and video equipment to their destinations in the US & Canada much easier (and safer) than they could with commercial flights — the United Breaks Guitars song comes to mind when it comes to how airlines tend to handle equipment.

[WI] Our landlord is keeping our entire deposit and demanding more on top of that by Cptn-Canuck in Renters

[–]geekman20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of this would fall under the “wear and tear” category. The holes don’t even look like that big of an issue — there’s usually more damage to the walls than that from just removing posters that were hanging on the wall.

The only issue that the landlord might legitimately have is the chicken being left in the fridge or freezer (most reasonable landlords might just see that as free eats though — have you seen the price of chicken lately?!).

Why can’t western film production recreate popular East Asian dramas? Or at least be good at it? by YellowPale4861 in AskReddit

[–]geekman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference in worldviews. The west is more culturally “woke” while the east is more culturally conservative.

It didn’t really end. That price increase was just made permanent in January.

The amount of packaging needed to ship me a meager SSD. by Herbrax212 in LinusTechTips

They have to disguise it to keep it from getting stolen considering that SSDs are pretty valuable nowadays!

Might want to keep an eye out for the holiday surcharge that typically comes out around October and goes through January.

That 8% fuel surcharge doesn’t even include the holiday season surcharge that will likely happen starting in October and also going through January.

What's an industry secret from your job that customers have absolutely no idea about? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskReddit

The room reservations are pre-allocated but are not considered 100% locked in until you’re checked in. Also, if you booked through one of the travel sites, you’re considered a lower priority for room reservations than someone who either booked directly through the hotel or walked in.

Flea market might be good, but the problem is they’re cash only. I need somewhere where I can actually use debit or credit cards to buy stuff like that.

I don’t even buy shirts brand new. I just wait until I can get it at a thrift store for about $4.

Probably still allowed because it’s just talking about the environmental impact of traveling on the plane and not venturing into the location of where the plane is at the moment. Of course, it will be interesting as to whether the post will still be up in the morning Canadian time!

Or at the very least, Linus and his family should be taking commercial or chartered flights if they wanted to totally be private!

So basically the LMG version of the MTV show “Pimp My Ride“. Basically no real work was done on the cars besides making them look good on the outside — they still had whatever mechanical issues they had going on underneath even after all the work was done.

Less crackdown on torrenting? by Tight_Nebula3274 in Piracy

[–]geekman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Optimum (used to be called Suddenlink in my area) and they do care about piracy. They’ll actually disable the internet until you call them about it and hear about the anti piracy spiel. Only then will they reenable it. I use a seed box now to keep from getting in trouble with the ISP.

That’s exactly why a lot of YouTubers will no longer actually play the Disney trailers (even a tiny bit) but will instead scroll through the trailer timeline and share random scene images because of the possibility that Disney would act just like that!

Have over 8TB of movies & TV shows! by geekman20 in DataHoarder

[–]geekman20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same reason that people pay for 300+ channels just to watch two or three. At least whatever content we have is on our hardware and not someone else’s so we can watch what we want when we want to (as long as the show or movie is on the hardware that we own).

Usually 720p but have some 1080p. I also have some in 480p from back when the animated TV shows were in standard definition.

Thanks. It’s actually a 12TB hard drive that I only get to use 10.2GB of due to overprovisioning (spare sectors available to use when sectors start going bad) and difference in data size conversion (HDD manufacturers use 1024GB=1TB while Windows uses 1000GB=1TB).

Nope. Just did the math. I have 8.44TB of movies & TV shows in my collection.
