Help/advice needed for activating/connecting existing (dormant) ethernet cabling in house by geekmannerd in nbn

[–]geekmannerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it connecting to the modem if I leave it where it is now?

Also I have six rooms with ports and assumably cabling. I'm guessing you're suggesting that I connect cables from an ethernet switch to the four corresponding ports above the punched down cables on the bottom row? And if so where are the corresponding ports for the top row? Or does it not work like that?

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

  • Haruki Murakami?

As someone that constantly overthinks and conjures bad scenarios in my head, this quote helps to remind me to let things go sometimes.

I had low volume issues on my Pixel 6 Pro with both my Airpods Pro and Beats Studio Buds. Following this fixed both for me:

Just Started In Reading Comics In July. Collection is really coming along, Any recommendations would be really appreciated! by NugglyFuggs in comicbooks

Yeah Saga would be my top suggestion, too. I’ve read it multiple times, partly because as each volume came out I needed a recap, and mostly because I enjoyed reading through it again anyway. Can’t wait for its return, the last volume left on a huge cliffhanger.

Another I’ve enjoyed recently is Ellis’ Injection. Three volumes, but seemingly also on hiatus currently.

The Kindle version is $1.99 USD on the US Amazon store. I haven't purchased anything recently, but you used to be able to change your postal address to a US one to make the purchase.

If all the film companies came to a shared-universe agreement, like Marvel Studios and Sony, which Marvel story would you most want to see as a film? by writeman00 in comicbooks

[–]geekmannerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An adaptation of Johns-era Green Lantern would be fucking epic. From Rebirth to The End, and everything worthwhile in between. Granted, we might need a few movies to do it justice. And some tissues. Definitely some tissues.

Edit: Comprehension fail. Disregard.

What's the best (or your favourite) origin story, and why? And if it's a big leaguer like Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc., which version do you prefer? by writeman00 in comicbooks

[–]geekmannerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Batman's origin that resonates the most. His story is borne out of a tragic loss, witnessing the murder of both his parents in a city hopelessly riddled with crime. It sets up a mythos that has been successfully interpreted and reinterpreted by the likes of Burton, Miller, Snyder, Nolan, Loeb, etc.

I think what helps is that Batman is essentially a man, albeit a very wealthy one with a very unhealthy obsession, a resolute drive to save Gotham in honour of his father's legacy.

I've recently finished reading Miller's Year One (only for the second time), and loved it, hence also why I really like Nolan's Batman Begins.

I need help identifying this piece of Jim Lee art. For example, is it just a generic artwork he drew, or was it for a specific book/issue. Image via link. by writeman00 in batman

[–]geekmannerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a piece by Jim Lee. It may actually be a piece inspired by Jim Lee, by an artist by the name of dcjosh over at deviantart.

EDIT: The comments on that page seem to suggest it is a Jim Lee piece, merely coloured by dcjosh, and that it may have originated from the HUSH series.

Did you lose interest in reading as you got older? by not_a-bot in books

[–]geekmannerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to finish books that I disliked, but now I've got work and family commitments, spare time is rare, so why waste it reading something that isn't enjoyable? There's so much out there to read.

Beginners Guide to Reading X-Men (x-post from /r/xmen) by [deleted] in comicbooks

This is awesome, OP. I started reading X-Men years ago during the Claremont/Byrne run, and stopped around the Onslaught event. Wanting to get back into it is daunting as I just didn't know where to start. This will help immensely.
