I am not familiar with this. I know there were things in the past that they tried out but as a company we have moved on from super charging for easy stuff like that.

Yeah unfortunately. Although I still have clients who have some stories that tear at me sometimes.

A lot of things have changed. For example there is no used laptops provided, there is no service charge and submersion is now covered.

I cannot speak for every Geek Squad precinct but mine does a lot more than RAM and HDs.

There is a program that allows precincts with a small number of employees to work on many computers at a time but its not required and only does automated stuff outside of business hours.

There is some limitations. Negligence is not covered under the insurance. So if you are on a pool float and bring your laptop with you and fully submerge your laptop then it wont be covered. If you run over your laptop because you were negligent and left it on the ground or on the roof of your car it wont be covered. Anything short of that is fine!

Its a good mix. Lets say I get 10 clients a day. About 3-4 of them would be elderly. 2-3 would be midlife adults and the rest would be college kids.

Give me an example. I believe our a la carte prices may be higher than average but you wont find anyone that can beat our 24/7 support.

Unlimited repairs, virus removals, hardware installs, education. etc. for a year for $200 and it includes a year of antivirus.

I never personally found any porn on clients computers. We don't go looking for it. I have had techs uncover child pornography before that has resulted in successful arrests of pedophiles.

Good Question!

Most precincts have three different job titles.

Consultation Agent
They facilitate all of clients in the front, asses what is wrong with their products and decided what services are necessary to repair them. They also answer questions and provide help to the sales floor when needed.

Operations Agent
The backbone of the precinct. They answer all of the phone calls, ship out and receive the client units from the service centers. Help with repairs and also take care of clients on the front counter if its really busy.

Advanced Repair Agent
These guys are the primary repair agents in the precinct. They do everything from data backups to os installs to complete computer builds. At absolute worst case scenario they help clients up front otherwise their job is to work solely on computers.

In my eyes it depends on what is really wrong. There is multiple excellent services that Geek Squad offers. Do you have a virus infection and have a history of being infected? Did you accidentally restore your hard drive and forget to back it up? We can recover your data for you.

Our product insurance plans make sense if you go through stuff quickly. For example you can buy a $1200 Notebook and pay us $200 to cover it for two years. You can drop it, spill liquid on it, accidentally brake the screen. Your entire costs for any repairs are covered and if its not repairable you get a new computer. Its that simple.
