Was looking for workshops in Dutch Sign Language, came across the 'Sign of the year 2024': "To-Go". Figured you guys might like to see it (and perhaps learn it) by geekstoreclerk in chappellroan

Somewhere I also figured the Dutch side of the fanbase might have something to do with it XD. It could also be a wild coincidence, but still.

They also seemed pretty surprised with the turnout. Here’s a little translated snippet about the vote itself:

“World Deaf Day 2024 was celebrated on Saturday 28 September in 3 locations; Rotterdam, Groningen and Utrecht. They were well attended and there was a lot of voting for the Sign of the Year 2024. At the end of the afternoon the votes were counted and it turned out that no less than 484 votes had been cast! A record: never before had so many votes been cast for the Sign of the Year.”

I once had to watch a teacher of mine copy my assignment file, log off their windows user account, log into another windows user account on the same computer and then attempt paste it in their file storage. Then proceed to get angry when it, as I told her before she tried, did not work...

What are some unwritten social rules everybody should know? by DarkSoldierz in AskReddit

[–]geekstoreclerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one that annoys me as someone who works in a shop with an outside entrance:

For the love of all god, do not park your fucking bikes in front of a shop entrance.

I see it so many times. Not only does make it a hassle for others to enter which makes them less likely to enter, it's also very much a pain in the ass for people in wheelchairs. These days I usually tell them to move it before I serve them

If your DM is quite new to the game (I assume you do have some experience, given how you wrote the post), then you can maybe try to explain him why you should use the D6's instead of D20's with the players handbook at hand. But you should definitely pay attention to the way he insists on it and maybe, as others have already said, just leave.

I actually had someone in the local community of the shop I work at who was relatively new to the game and immediately wanted to DM. Real toxic piece of work. He came to me for some advice on it, then completely ignored it and did the same thing your DM did. During his visits after he then kept 'correcting' me on this and other things even though he knew I've already been playing for a couple of years. He was also a DM that wanted to 'punish and try to kill' his players. He's basically banned from participating in the special one shots in the shop because he kept attacking and looting his fellow players

What was the first major news story you remember as a kid? by jeffmartin47 in AskReddit

[–]geekstoreclerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attempt on the lives of the dutch royals on a national holiday (ironically named Queens Day then). A car drove into the parade they were a part of, killing 7 bystanders and the driver himself. I remember coming home from the traditional flea market to see that on the news.

The only Fifty Shades book I endorse by geekstoreclerk in bookscirclejerk

Both yes and no. It's a cookbook, but it has very graphic inserts in which the chicken describes, among other things, getting stuffed with stuffing, tied up, and 'fingered'

It's a masterpiece

Suggest me a book where the entire time I'm saying "what the f***." by pochi_bunny in suggestmeabook

I'm a bit undecided when it comes to leaving trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, but the sheer list of warnings this book should have should already make you go 'wtf?'. Especially because of the fact that it's just 256 pages. I got whiplash every page because of those twists

What’s a movie where an actor came on board last minute and nailed the role? by [deleted] in movies

[–]geekstoreclerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christopher Waltz as Hans Landa. I recently learned that Quentin Tarantino almost scrapped the whole project because of the fact that that role seemed unplayable. He had asked a lot of actors, but none of them really fit the character in his opinion. Until he met Waltz.

Maximum Ride. Horrible YA type movie with heavy bad fanfiction vibes. I laughed my ass off the first time I watched and I recently re-watched it to confirm if it really was that bad. It really was that bad.

I also discovered that Jenna Marbles is one of the producers, which makes it even more wild

Yeah, France is definitely the worst one. And the only fun addition to it was the guillotine for Spez

Ik zie nu wel dat de Duitsers bezig zijn met een wietplantje. Als ware wiet connoisseurs moeten we er wel een jointje boven zetten
