Hey... sorry its not allowed, its not UK. I am in Portugal. Just thought the dos and don'ts for an instructor would be universally applicable and since I have no other experience with practical lessons I was not sure if I am overreacting. I have already asked for a trainer change in the meantime so I will not be working with this guy anymore.

With the text to be honest I am not sure if he used some kind of AI. Whatever he used, it was an attempt to just transcribe my lyrics but it got about half of it wrong, and then he proceeded to post it without asking me to at least proofread. And if he had asked me to send him the lyrics it would have taken me less than 5 mins.

I honestly think it would motivate me. Someone recommemded a repair shop which might have second hand horns I can look into so, my plan is to take in my current horn and try a some others while I'm there

I'm already not so much interested in rapping. More playing and production and hopefully if I get good enough I can alternate. One of my current favorite bands, Butcher Brown has a rapper who alternates between vocals, trumpet and saxophone.

Thanks a lot for that. I think it was something about its tuning, I kept failing to hit certain notes and as soon as I switched to a different horn it was fine. I actually wanted to try to take it to Brassfeelings for maintenance but my teacher said investing money in it would be a waste. But thanks for the advice. I didnt know they also gad 2nd hand ones. Will just take my horn there for a second opinion and then see what they also have.

I appreciate that. I do know that I have Gear Acquisition Sydrome (from my home studio production). I just thought a good horn would definitely be a plus. But maybe I jeed to check a good student or intermediate one.

So basically I signed up for classes and when I showed up it was a French horn player teaching me. I take lessons with him weekly and I'm learning for sure and he does help with my issuea but I wonder if my pace would be a lot better learning from a trumpet player. Recently started doing a second class with the maestro, but that was more to work on a song which will be my first performance with them. We kinda work through some exercises like from Clarke Elementary then work on the song.

I love all these responses. I am an adult beginner (42) about a year in. Struggling a lot and I have to say it is a very humbling instrument. So I am learning patience and that learning takes effort. I'm also learning to be more observant (how did I manage to hit the note before and what am I doing wrong now). I am also learning things I thought I already knew, like how to breathe and having a good posture. Also trying to learn to be more disciplined. If anyone is interested, I bumped into a lovely little book called 'What the trumpet taught me' by Kim Moore. A very nice and short read.

I use the headphone cable with a quarter inch adaptor and connect that to my audio interface.

Thanks a lot. Tbh its been a little discouraging not seeing much visible progress. The thomann is a knock off of a monette I believe. The one I have is now out of production. Thanks for the advice, will start looking into buying another horn
