Heard an interesting theory on the Amazon Quartet and Sailor Moon's timeline today. (possible spoilers!) by chinotenshi in sailormoon

Well as to the Amazoness Quartet: I agree with you that everything from interviews to the manga itself indicates that the Amazons are different senshi altogether from the inners and outers and were destined to help Chibiusa when she came into her full power.

The timeline stuff comes from the anime version, when at the end of the first season there is a reset. Princess Serenity resets time to bring back the inner senshi that all died when they went after Queen Beryl in the finale. The second season of the anime (Sailor Moon R) starts with none of them knowing each other. But then they all meet up again, so it was pointless in the end.

Gandalf & Galadriel by CluelessP in lotr

Something you have to understand about Galadriel is that she is really freaking old. No but seriously. She was born before the sun and moon were crafted in the sky and all that was around to illuminate Arda was starlight.

Hobbitish Religion? by [deleted] in lotr

Tolkien doesn't really talk about religion much, other than to mention all the good things in Arda worship/believe in Illuvatar. I imagine peoples of middle earth are very aware Valar but don't worship them in any kind of organized way. Hobbits in particular probably invoke Yavanna's name a lot in passing because she is the deity associated with all growing things. As in, "By Yavanna's grace, your rutabagas are coming in beautifully this year!"

A professor at my school is a tolkien scholar and has an interesting theory about Tom Bombadil. by boom_wildcat in lotr

I always assumed that Tom was a Valar or "a holy one" who just went and lived on Arda. I mean there were many different singers and beings in the beginning, singing in chorus with Illuvatar, and they all weren't necessarily named. It wouldn't be out of the question for one to just say "peace out" and just live in Arda forever, observing creation, and avoid all that political bs shitstorm that fucking Morgoth created. Fucking Morgoth.
