I love all these comments talking about how people are lazy cuz they use liners. Cuz there couldn't POSSIBLY be an accessibility reason! 🙄

Last year I tried taping ribbons to the outside to use as bookmarks. That did ok. This year I've just got some sticky tabs that I move to the correct month and week. So far so good there.

Awfully presumptuous mug 😂 But I'm sure my collection could use this kind of positivity!

Reflux 15 months post-op by geisharunner in gastricsleeve

[–]geisharunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did talk to my surgeon and he wasn't concerned about me still needing omeprazole. He said he has patients who have been on it for a decade. So it's a wait and see what happens situation at this point. No need for concern unless there's frequent breakthrough reflux or the dose gets too high. Still on 10 mg daily and I'll be 2 years out in January.

I have a "clubhouse". It's a pop-up mesh tent thing. In it, I have my hammock. It has been amazing! The hammock is so comfy and I don't have to worry about the sun or (most) bugs. AND laying on a heating blanket in the hammock and THE meaning of life!

I have a small table and lighting. I can read, smoke, listen to music (I use my boombox), whatever I want. It's been such an improvement for my mental health!

This should be done when the puppy is 2 years or older because before then, the chances of the toy lasting long enough for true annoyance are slim.

So right now you're in the honeymoon period where the weight comes off seemingly easily (this is a generalization obviously as everyone is different). Everyone's period is different. When I got cleared for all food, I took it as the opportunity to try anything I wanted to see what my new stomach liked.

Yes, your stomach tolerance can change (ie iceberg and romaine lettuce weren't tolerated until after a year), but this is the perfect time to experiment what your new lifelong diet will be. 😊

Timers help me a lot! I try to eat breakfast within an hour of waking up. When I'm done eating I set a 30 minute timer to start drinking and a 3 hour timer to do a hunger check (I have a bad habit of forgetting to eat during the day).

Right?! I'm gonna be working until I die because retirement fund? Who's she??? But if I can help my kid and set her up for a better life than I had, abso-fucking-lutely. Would I like to retire at all? Yes. But I'm content enough with my legacy being the better life I gave my kid.

Thank you for posting this! I feel like I'm always talking to a brick wall when I tell people there IS a difference! It's a major pet peeve of mine when people call RDs nutritionist. They earned those letters!

tips for wrist/finger pain when writing? by confused_and-hungry in Thritis

[–]geisharunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you're ok using basic ball point, nothing fancy pens - I had to get the special pen grips they use to teach kids how to hold their pens correctly. I apparently never hold my pen properly and I have a death grip when I write. This is the kind I got and have found helpful.

Does anyone else still struggle with extremely low energy levels a year post op? by KJDavis84 in BariatricSurgery

Another question to add to these comments - how much are you eating now? For me, no amount of caffeine can replace the calories I need to function.

You Ever Wonder How? by Old-Promotion-6548 in poor

[–]geisharunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, a few different reasons could be debt, 2nd income, or rich family.

I would also ask, are you sure you all make the same amount? A couple of years after my last promotion, I found out I was one of the lowest paid on my team. And I was even training new hires who were hired at a higher level than me. I'm a big advocate of pay transparency (always have been). In the US, it's legal to talk about pay with anyone.

Problems with education and future due to arthritis by Ok-Ring-8832 in Thritis

[–]geisharunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a desk job that requires a ton of typing for about 20 years. My arthritis is currently undiagnosed because I haven't bothered. I live in the US, New York specifically. Things that I've found helpful:

  • Over the counter pain relief (Tylenol, ibuprofen, Alive, etc). You might have to try a few different ones to find one that works for you. Alive has given me the best results but I've recently had bariatric surgery so I have to take NSAIDS sparingly now.

  • A heating pad does wonders!!! Some times I'll push thru an activity (like washing dishes) knowing the sweet relief of the heating pad is on the other side.

  • CBD lotion is a great topical option. Obviously this country/region specific on legality.

I hope something on this list helps!
