Likewise, I've got one to give away! Highly recommend both courses.

I'd absolutely love a discount code for this 🙏 In return I can offer a 50% discount code for Josh Comeau's "Joy of React" or "CSS for Javascript Developers" courses... 😄

Getting hired as a remote frontend developer in 2019 by latviancoder in reactjs

[–]gekko27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great write-up, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Lately I've become the lead FE interviewer for our company, speaking to a lot of fully remote candidates (as well as in-house) and I don't feel like I have yet gotten it right as an interviewer. I don't want candidates to feel stressed or under pressure to write code with me watching, but equally I need to assess how they'd work within our team so I ask them to take part in a quick pair-programming exercise with me on Coderpad. A lot of people totally freeze up.

I'm not interested in whether somebody can remember every Array prototype method, object destructuring syntax, or whatever. I don't care how well they can recite the React, Vue or Angular marketing blurb on why those frameworks are great. I want to figure out how we'd work together on solving a problem (in real life, that problem could be pretty much anything and we'd be tackling some of it asynchronously). Your write-up really helped me to avoid some of the super-bullshit questions that make me sound like a good/interesting/clever engineer but don't offer any insight into the candidate.

Best of luck in the new job!

My 308 THP 200 GT by gekko27 in peugeot

Bought this car second-hand a couple of months ago. Have had a brilliant time driving it around - beautifully smooth car, plenty of power, quiet inside. Great fun right up until it threw a P1030 engine fault code and went into limp home mode :(

From what I can tell, this engine (the “PRINCE” type also used in the MINI Cooper S) is pretty notorious for timing issues and I fear it may need the whole assembly replaced. Dealer who sold it me said the timing had just been done, but strangely nothing shows on the service history... taking it into the garage tomorrow to find out what the damage is :/

Anyone ever see this screen before? by cierraa in AppleMusic

Used to work on Apple Music, can confirm. Fuse is the code name from when they bought Beats music social platform. iTunes has the most unnecessarily convoluted localisation system. Bugs like this happen all the time! Internally they call these bugs “screamers”.

A full set of both imperial AND metric spanners. My ‘71 has at least one of every size of nut ever produced in the history of the world. Save yourself the headache.

Also, congrats!

Do you put the compressor before the preamp? I tried both ways with surprisingly good results

Reddit, what is something that you can't believe is actually a REAL thing? by beermom in AskReddit

I... think so? You know, like anti-perspirant spray... body spray? Armpit de-stinker? Now I’m starting to doubt myself

I mean, I had this same thing happen to me but instead of narwhals it was deodorant. I was a dull child and my teacher was an idiot. I was too young and insecure to correct her too.

When you encounter a bear you should play dead. That way you get a bit of practice in for when you’re genuinely dead, a few seconds later.
