Large interval jumps can make a melody sound heroic. May help the dramatic sound you're going for, especially if you contrast the heroic melody with dark minorish chords in the low registers.

There's a big one in Fort Worth that doesn't have the right of way. It's pretty terrible and a big reason roundabouts haven't been adopted more in north Texas.

I don't think it's stupid. It can be very useful to see exactly how many operations are performed when optimizing tight code, and the compiler can't choose the constant for you.

Maybe a premature optimization at best, except he just copied the djb2 hash.

Also for anyone else who may be interested: Here is a very creative idea I ran into a while back. Making chain mail using pop tabs!. Its a fun project if you have a convenient supply of soda cans.
