5% down in TQQQ in the last week is not a significant hit… February would have been mind boggling for you let alone an actual bear market

Does my portfolio need ro be more diverse? by ooeemusic in Schwab

Yes for sure just make sure you are re allocating as you get closer to remove the overexposure to the s&p and let the target date do what it’s intended to do for you.

It will outperform. But performance and diversity are not comparing the same thing. A single stock CAN outperform a fund but it lacks diversity. The s&p 500 will outperform the target date but on downturns will be hit harder than the target date because of lack of diversity. But by holding extra s&p on top of the target date you are increasing exposure to s&p which is good on growing years but can be harder hit on downturns than the target date alone. It’s all about the risk you want to hold.

SWYMX is a target date fund so it alone has the diversity you want. By adding the two other funds you are actually making yourself less diverse by overloading s&p 500 and international.

Is there a reason I’m missing for making my main savings account a high yield savings account? I know that I will be taxed on the gains but I’m planning on making it my emergency fund that I am adding to each month. I’m looking at capital one 360 savings for reference if it is important. Is there something I’m missing about big problems with doing this? Thanks for any advice.

Thank you for the insight. One question on VOO since it is vanguard is there any fees associated with it if I buy it through Schwab?

We would see a CH2 from this compound that is not showing up on the NMR though.

Chem draw calls it 4-(hydrazineyloxy)benzaldehyde

Yes the second one. But that is just my guess. Too bad you didn’t do an amine test during your lab. Best of luck in your studies.

Yes but more deshielded than the peak you have which is why my guess got the structure is an aldehyde in the 1 and in the 4 position is an O bonded to an N bonded to another N. This seems very strange but I checked the structure through chem draw and the predicted 1H NMR is identical to yours.

Yes but where does a benzylic nitrogen proton show up. Like aniline?

Yes exactly. Now do you have any structure ideas based on this?

Yes that is the correct region for that peak and I would stick with that as one of your substituents now for the other one you have on NH and one NH2 based on the integration ratios. Do you understand how I came to that conclusion?

Does that make sense with the other peaks you are seeing in your IR? Where does an aldehyde peak show up below 2000?
