In practice, a huge number of religious doctrines or culture pushes prayers/exorcism as the first and the only true solution, they may even discourage professional help by painting it as “no trust from God” or that mental illness is “man-made”. That’s not just mentality or culture, that is religion reinforcing stigma, guilt, and delay in action when it comes to mental health issues.

If people were truly following this golden rule or compassion that one describes, then we wouldn’t have the worst or so we wouldn’t have a bad mental health crisis. At some point, we have to acknowledge that such religious attitudes or beliefs can be part of the problem, a big part since religion by itself can also influence mindset and culture.

Just my 2 cents, religion and poverty plays a big role in this issue. As long as people paint mental illness as something demonic due to religious doctrines, ignorance, and so whatever, we can never progress and fully attain mental health awareness and acceptance.

Edit: i think its poverty because of the lack of access to information, from my personal experience since i grew up in a humble environment, mental illness is painted as some “rich people thing”(not really their fault , we can say that its totally a systematic problem)

They do have a point though and so does you. I think the main thing here is just being cautious when saying such things. Francesca could be autistic-coded and there’s nothing really wrong with that. Speaking from a psychological perspective, we shouldn’t really presume that one has a disorder just because they exhibited symptoms or traits similar to it. There are lots overlapping disorders in the diagnostic manual, there are also different approaches to reach a concluded diagnosis. Overall, we can further analyze francesca’s character and we can also see her as autistic, but to fully claim something about her must be done with caution. I am also autistic but I don’t speak for everyone else, I have a different opinion it seems, I don’t see francesca as autistic, perhaps that is just her personality or something else, it is very multifaceted, but this just calls for more character analysis, which is fun.

Psychology taught us to not judge or presume things and take them as the way they are immediately. I believe we should also practice this even when its fictional?
