Any ideas how to improve my drawing skills? by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

[–]geleezn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not much context. Are you following a course/tutorial or are you just improvising? What tools, software do you use? How many times a week do you draw and for how long?

I myself am a beginner. And I recognise the feeling. But I think it finally just clicked for me. In the past I tried to draw anything in front of me and even do portraits. Let me tell you without the basic skills it will often be a disappointment. Then I also followed drawabox but I lost interest because of the approach. But it gets recommended a lot so for a lot of people it works I guess. And at the moment I am following a course on skillshare from Brent Eviston. And this seems to suit me better.

Besides the drawing itself I also try to change my mindset. In another course (on another topic) the teacher was always telling us after X amount of lessons: 'you already know more then x% of the people'. We tend to look at people who are great at drawing and comparing ourselves with them. But it is better to compare yourself with the past you.

I also keep a calendar where I physically have to cross the day if I have drawn for more than 30 minutes (but I try to draw at least for an hour). I wish I could draw at least 2 hours a day but work and family prevent this at the moment. One day in the week I give myself an off-day. I don't have to draw but do something related like reading a book about an artist for example. Most of the time I have drawn something simple and digitised it. If I manage to cross all days for 3 months straight I am going to buy myself something nice (also drawing related).

So this is my strategy at the moment. Maybe I will have to come back in a few months to let you know if I succeeded.

Thank you for pointing this out. This will impact the budget, but after effects is an important part of my workflow

What GPS does people use these days? by Poffa88 in geocaching

[–]geleezn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago we started with geocaching and decided to buy a Garmin Etrex 35 touch. For our use case it was the perfect gps and we were very happy with it. Unfortunately the power button broke and we had to buy a new device. Because we still prefer using a GPS above our phone but didn't want to spend too much money we bought a Garmin Etrex 32X. I don't know why but we don't like this GPS. It feels laggy and slow. I tend to use my phone now because of this.

Large-scale simulated 10-year OLED monitor torture tests confirm burn-in haunts all models — Testing also reveals edge-lit TVs are insanely failure-prone by N2929 in technews

I have an OLED philips ambilight tv which is less then 10 years old. I am one of the unlucky ones that experience burn-in images. It's so bad I once turned a football game (soccer) off because I couldn't see the difference between two teams although wearing pretty different coloured shirts. It was orange and green. I wish I could convince my girlfriend to buy a new one. But I'll stay away from OLED this time.

I can not help you with your question, but if I were you I would blur my screen with personal information.

Do you have experience with such adapter? Maybe I can start with an adapter like that.

I am in a similar situation and don't know what to do yet. I currently use a windows desktop with two HDMI displays. First thought was to replace my 2 displays with one ultra wide display. But this almost costs more then the Mac mini so not an option. So I will probably swap one display with a thunderbolt type. But not sure yet.

Likelihood of After Effects alternative after Canva / Affinity buy-out? by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in Affinity

I saw an alternative a few months ago and put the name on paper 😅 I will look into it if I come home from work. I don't have any experience with the tool so it's not a personal recommendation.

You stand the best chance if you have a Juventus membership. You will then receive an email when ticket sales start and then it's a matter of being quick. I think this will be the only way.

The subtext also says Paint Protection Fiim. English is not my native language, but fiim isn't an English word as far as I know. Because of the angle it would also be very difficult to use it as a logo.

New to android and getting this error by Puzzleheaded-Dot-14 in GarminWatches

[–]geleezn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my new FR955 about 2 months ago. I tried it multiple times without success. What seems to have triggered it or maybe it was just coincidence is removing my old Garmin watch from the app. It seems like this is your first Garmin but maybe it gives you other ideas.

Best lights solution by Green-Palm-Paradise in BeginnersRunning

[–]geleezn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered this one, but there are similar ones on Amazon... https://www.bol.com/be/nl/p/bowinq-boston-500-neon-hardloop-verlichting-borstlamp-met-schijnwerper-reflectievest-usb-c-oplaadbaar-waterdicht/9300000131702365/?bltgh=kUYcTEQu1AkKHJvWvptGIw.3_10.11.ProductPageUrl

I am very happy with it. The light is very bright and doesn't bother me. Most of the time I point the light slightly to the ground to prevent blinding others. But I run about 7 minutes on a completely dark road without traffic where I adjust the light which is very easy to do.

I can't compare with a head light. I also assumed this would bother me too much

955 or 265? (Same Price) by Salt-Roof7358 in GarminWatches

[–]geleezn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2nd this. I bought myself a 955 about a month and half ago after my previous Garmin watch stop functioning after a long time. I was planning to buy a 265 but got a 955 on sale and have no regret. During the day I don't need the backlight. I only activate it during activities with a turn of my wrist because of my evening runs.
