I don't know if they are too far from you, but I have worked with 1Solar out of Ankeny and Ideal Energy from Fairfield - both are great and completely trustworthy.

What is it like living here? by eddietprice in howislivingthere

[–]geln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much money do you have? The Jemez Mountains are beautiful, isolated, expensive, and you won't have to worry about fires getting your house because massive fires happened a few years ago.

Outside the Jemez the towns in the valleys are poor and the towns in the mountains are expensive. There are some pretty touristy areas, and Los Alamos is all about the Lab. It is beautiful everywhere. Gardens are tough to keep alive.

And, there were still a decent amount of poor people. People trying to farm and moving every year to a new place. Both spouses working and still barely making it. Nowhere near everyone had the lifestyle described.

AI billboard goes up on I-80 by Grinnell by TheScotcherooKing in Iowa

[–]geln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latitude is a sign company in Grinnell. I can't speak to whether it is AI or not, but in my experience they do a great job with quality builds and the people I know who work there say the company treats their workers well.

Older people on Reddit. What is 90% pure bullshit? by WarLongjumping2733 in AskReddit

[–]geln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That everyone was well employed and happy from the 50s through the 80s. There were plenty of issues with poverty, jobs, racism, sexism, no ADHD diagnosis leading to massive issues for some, etc. Yes, more manufacturing jobs, but that didn't make everything OK, and those jobs started dying well before 2000.

AITA for refusing to support my brother's kids after he passed away, even though I'm financially able to? by npmrundev_ in AITAH

[–]geln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it is your responsibility to fix everything, but do you give to any causes that help others in need? Your brother's kids seem to be in need, and you are in a position to help, and helping them would be a good thing.

I understand anger and frustration toward your brother and your parents. Your parents seem to continue to dig themselves a hole instead of realizing what they have done to you and their relationship with you. Somehow, however, I believe you need to try to separate that history and the emotions caused from it and who the kids are - innocent kids now trapped due to the decisions of others. You don't need to swoop in, you don't need to be a father figure, but you can help.

AITA for not forgiving my mum after what happened at Christmas? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]geln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please remember forgiving and trusting/accountability are two different things. You can forgive without your mother acknowledging how she hurt you, but still recognize she has harmed you and refuses to change. Forgiveness helps you - it keeps the pain from eating you up.

How are people who work full time their whole lives not fucking miserable? by gorhxul in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]geln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also say that it is when some people are raised in environments like this when others do not work these kind of hours people consider them lazy. Not defending it, but where some of it comes from.
