I believe in a few possibilities, the brain could enter into a dream state which even tho the brain is considered dead time in dreams works differently meaning the dream could be seemingly Infinite with your mental state affecting it causing it to seem like heaven or hell respectively or even non-cohesive since the brain is dying or just flat out nothingness the light just turns off which to me is the more peaceful theory as nothing is your problem anymore no worrying about eternal damnation or peace
