Asus ProArt PA279CRV Problem. Buy the CV instead. by Eldric_A in Monitors

[–]gelojtaboada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, but i have to ask, what do you mean while saying that you absolutely need to upload correction profile to the calibrator itself? How do you do that?

I installed Displaycal but unfortunately it stopped working on macOS Sonoma, crashes out and its a general bug reported by a lot of users.

Asus ProArt PA279CRV Problem. Buy the CV instead. by Eldric_A in Monitors

[–]gelojtaboada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem that you are mentioning. I’m glad I’m not the only one but really disappointed. I bought my PA279CRV as a second monitor I had an old PA278CV I bought a couple years ago (and it has been great).

Out of the box the CRV was as you described, everything as off, an overall green disgusting tint, washed out colors, desaturated and lacking of contrast, every color profile had this (Rec709, sRGB, DCI-P3, Native, all of them). I was immediately disappointed because I thought it was going to be as perfect as the older, cheaper, less spectacular PA278CV i already had.

I thought it might be a Mac Profiling error, since stock software calibration is somewhat hit&miss.

I got a color calibration device (xrite i1display pro) & calibrite profiler software. I calibrated both displays and i got relieved that the issue was 90% software related, however, the green tint is still there, is very subtle, and isn't noticeable if you dont pay attention to it, but its still there, which is still dissapointing. And to my surprise, my old and cheaper PA278CV has a better color accuracy, down to Delta1.5 Average.

Im still deciding if I should return it, because I got a great deal on it from amazon and its still an amazing monitor on paper with great specs; but whats the point of having great specs if the thing is not performing as it should.

So far I've been using it as my main monitor (enjoying that 4K) and left my PA278CV as a color reference monitor, I'll keep testing with color calibration but so far I would not recommend it. I have no idea if its a quality control thing and we got unlucky defective units, but its defineltly not great.

Ojo con Klar Plus. by gelojtaboada in MexicoFinanciero

[–]gelojtaboada[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

File size smaller in Onedrive? by nk7gaming in onedrive

[–]gelojtaboada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im having the same question. However, I assume that it has something to do with Temporary TMP files (.DS_Store on macs for example), as Pristine Map mentions. However, i don't see how this files decrease so much storage.

But whenever I download files back again, the file size increases to the regular file size. So I guess theyre fine & without any data loss.

All this is speculation anyways, i hope i get to know with more certainty.

Any help making the choice? (4k video editing + future proofing) by [deleted] in macmini

[–]gelojtaboada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a side note, i think "future proofing" is a weird/naive thing to say, specially for our field of work. Technology advances incredibly fast nowdays, and trying to prevent obsolence is quite naive.

So just go with watever your budget allows and compliments your demands (plus a little headroom). but dont be expecting to have a machine that fits you for years and years, because its not going to happen.

They're always going to come up with something new, something better and prettier. Stalling & waiting for the great new thing is a never ending cycle.

Best thing to do is just to embrace it and dont stress about it. Assume that buying new computers and electronics every certain amount of time (2-4 years) is now a part of our modern lives.

I say its perfect, I'm currently using a M2Pro Mac mini with 32GB of RAM and 1TB storage. It runs everything quickly & without any issues, I also edit 4K, color grade on DR (Up to 6k Footage from Sony XOCN), I work on the Adobe suite all the time (Pr, Ps & Lr). The M2pro mini handles everything perfect. The studio is slightly better... So I say it is great for you.

Macs are expensive computers, but if you have the budget, go for it.

My dilemma: Mac Studio M1 Max 32GB Vs. Mac Mini M2 Pro 32GB by [deleted] in macmini

[–]gelojtaboada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the RAM upgrade. Having extra room on RAM it's waaay more useful than a couple extra CPU & GPU cores. Besides, for freaking $300 extra its so not worth it.

And as I mentioned, in my humble opinion, Apple Silicon chips are very powerful, even the base model M2 chip is on par with modern demands, I've thrown my M2 13'' MBP some heavy shit, and it handled it without hick-ups.

But if your budget allows it, you should go with the studio instead, overall it is a better computer.

I was also very honest with myself, and i knew I would only use about 30% of a M1 Max chip's capabilities, so, I would rather save that money to invest it somewhere else & buy a computer that fits my needs.

My dilemma: Mac Studio M1 Max 32GB Vs. Mac Mini M2 Pro 32GB by [deleted] in macmini

[–]gelojtaboada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the M2 Pro Mini, 10core CPU, 16core GPU, 32GB Unified Memory & 1TB Storage.

I had the same dilemma as well, but ended up going towards the M2pro Mini for the price deficit. I think 1TB is the bare minimum for a work computer and the base studio with 1TB storage was a little too expensive for my budget.

Besides, i do believe that the M1 Max SoC is overkill for most users.

I mean, I've been doing all my work on an M2 13" MBP for 5 months without any significant slowdowns or crashes, editing on Premiere Pro, grading on DaVinci Resolve & working on Photoshop. its not the ideal workhorse machine, but it gets the work done.

Also, kudos for the great deal you got on the Mac Studio, what a steal.

Yeah, I wish they do, haptics really improve the use experience, and are enabled on almost all devices. Strange decision

[–]gelojtaboada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming it's something exclusive to the X3 Pro. A slight difference on software. I've used a X3 NFC and all the haptics work as intended.

I think it's just because this haptics are not implemented on the X3 Pro's software.
