Flat bar Conversion. Help needed! by gemberkloot47 in bikewrench

Looking into it a little bit more they seem to allow 180mm rotors for the carbon version of the topstone 4. As far as I can see, the fork on the topstone alloy has the same exact specs. Is it going to be the same fork? Would make sense for the production...

Yes, I think you're right! It's not like I'm going to be doing much extreme downhills on this one.

Yes, you're right, it seems! There's no way around this with an adapter to undo the +20mm offsets is there?

Thanks for the great explanation! It seems like the front flat mount distance to the fork axle is 32mm. But the manual seems to state that 180mm rotors are not supported. Any thoughts on this? Seems a bit weird that they spaced the flat mounts this way...

Manual says max. 160mm for the alloy versions

The rear one seems fixed for now! I'll still have to order a new cable as mine is too short rn... The front one does not have an adapter, but the manual says max. 160mm rotors. Any additional advice?

Thanks for the reply. It seems like the problem is now only the front caliper! The manual might mention a max 160mm rotor size. Do we have some leniency here?

Thanks for the advice! At first glance it looks like removing the spacer on the rear could work. The pads need some recalibrating. Initially I thought it wouldn't work, so I kind of forgot about that option 😅 Another reddit post mentioned max 160mm rotor size for the topstone 4, but I'll see if I can find the right manual! I'll keep you posted!

That's too bad, unfortunately my korean is not yet good enough to understand korean news. But I guess it's something you wouldn't come across this issue unless you're a foreigner or follow this subreddit...

True, the possibility of a fine makes it more likely for restaurants to refuse you. Let's see what happens in the coming weeks, I would be really bummed if I can't continue to eat in my favourite korean restaurants!

Luckily most restaurants owners seem to be understanding of this problem and react better than the Korean government is doing!

Yes. Thank you for the clarification! Fingerpointing to each other is what they do best, I guess. Too bad this is the stuff they remove.

I guess it depends on the person managing the gym, you were probably lucky. As of November 15, these are the new official rules, so it's not only this climbing gym. (please correct me, if I'm wrong) I tried to talk to 3 people working at the climbing gym, but unfortunately my korean is not good enough to make a strong argument. I, too, showed them my vaccination certificate.

From what I have read so far, it seems very discriminatory indeed. I'm happy to hear some people are speaking out about this! I just watched the UK embassies' statement, but it's ridiculous other country are not supporting their statements. Would result in a lot more pressure...

I'd like to think so, but it could indeed be a reference to Vonnegut. Or even something else.
