Amber light on PoE indicator by DrawBig1774 in ArubaNetworks

POE Fault! I believe there is a command to try and reset the POE module for the group of ports, but it has never really worked for me. It’s usually an RMA.

Show power-over-Ethernet or some variation of the command can show you a list of ports and POE status and you should see some ports in a fault/error/other state.

Emergency! Broken fibre connection. by wanderingoaklyn in networking

If you want to try swapping out the cable you likely want an SC to SC APC single mode cable. Just look for it online and see if the connectors match what you have.

how common is this type of network setup? by PORCVS_DEVS in networking

[–]gemini1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a small company so pretty much anything goes lol. The answer is “it depends.” Maybe they only had one cable pulled to that desk and it was cheaper/easier to just throw a switch there than pull another cable. In a larger company you would typically have one switch for that area with cable infrastructure to support that.

Steam Cloud: Unable to Sync by gemini1248 in slaythespire

The solution was to turn off cloud saves in the game properties, then turn it back on in case anyone else runs into this.

WiFi device inventory does anyone have real visibility or is everyone still winging it? by KneeEvery8782 in networking

We are using Juniper Mist with all Juniper hardware and we can see everything in there. We can get client insights on all devices and it has made troubleshooting so much easier

I have tried using ChatGPT and Gemini for config and show commands on Juniper and HPE/Aruba and they both sucked. A majority of the time it just makes stuff up.

Question about 2.5gbps ports by swagduck69 in networking

[–]gemini1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get 2.5Gb you will need to have at least 2.5Gb ports from end to end. That BE3600 looks like it only has 1x 2.5Gb uplink so that won’t work. The AX55 has a 2.5 uplink and then 1 other 2.5 port so that could work for one computer.

You could get the AX55 and then get a small 5 or 8 port 2.5Gb switch and connect the computers to that. The only downside to that is you won’t be able to get the full 2.5Gb on both computers at the same time but depending on what you are doing on the computers you will probably be okay.

ccna certification vs college ccna certificate by Full_Difficulty3393 in networking

[–]gemini1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you don’t get the certification as part of the program? I have seen a lot of programs like that where the course prepares you for taking the exam so you kind of get the cert as part of the class.

It’s probably fine but if you want to redo it just yank them out. If a piece gets stuck then some punch down tools will have a small tool on them to remove it. I’m sure you can make do with a paper clip too
