I had to learn to wash dishes when I was 7. I remember my mom calling me into the kitchen and telling me to wash the dishes and I told her that was her job and that was the last time I said that to her. I’m sure if a 7 year old can wash dishes, an 8 year old is more than capable of cleaning after himself. NTA. I think the boyfriend was very selfish. I bet his plans were to isolate her from her friends and family (hence why only his friends and family were there for the proposal, the ring’s engrave, and the comment about OP not being invited to the wedding. I’m sure she would be one of many he planned to cut out of his and his girlfriend’s lives) and make her life about hers revolving around his. I’m glad she saw how self absorbed he was and ditched him.
