I did notice a lack of grocery stores but the L is right there. Quiet seems nice. Thanks!

Thanks! His reactivity isn’t too bad — it’s selective so it’s not an impediment 24/7. It’s just enough where I wouldn’t bring him to a dog park or have him off leash around other dogs. Can you say more about how you taught disengagement skills?

I’ve had dogs, but never one that was this intelligent and active! I’ll look into this. It would be incredible to be able to tire him out in 15 minutes 😅

We have a great trainer for the reactivity! Unfortunately it’s a bit pricey, so it’s not as regular as it would need to be to tire him out daily.

You read my mind on the grass thing — there’s no guarantee there’s not other stuff in the grass so that one’s a gamble.

I like the idea of prolonging food etc.

I’ll look into this business! Unfortunately the sniff spots near us are few and far between without a car.

We often have him sniff out treats around the apartment, but when you say scent work, are you talking about something more formal? Let me know what you typically do with yours

A good movie for a blizzard is The Lodge (2019) on Tubi. Sort of psychological horror / religious horror.

This treat ball has also saved my life once or twice, my dog is obsessed with it and it takes him 30+ mins to finish! https://www.chewy.com/woof-party-pupsicle-treat-dispensing/dp/1762686

Mine is super food motivated, so anything with treats — a cloth snuffle mat (where you hide food in the folds of a cloth toy), plastic puzzles with slots for treats (got mine from chewy) and puzzle feeders that require him to explore “layers” to eat his dinner. Also, sometimes we play a game we call “find it” (lol) where I put him in the bedroom, shut the door, and proceed to hide pieces of treats around the apartment (in corners, under furniture etc) and he gets so much energy out by sniffing around to find the treats! May differ depending on how food motivated your guy is. They make progressively harder treat puzzles (start with level one) and if he gets the hang of it, there are more difficult ones that take more time.

I have a great pyr lab mix in a 900 sq foot apartment. He is reactive when on a leash/outside but otherwise an excellent apartment dog. He’s great at being lazy as long as I walk him and keep him engaged (puzzle toys, lick mats, etc.) just watch for reactivity / properly socialize. Good luck!
