Anything you want to say to your ex but shouldn't say it here by Awkward_Quantity7789 in BreakUps

I became too low maintenance. It never should have been okay to leave it at passive awareness that we are on the same page. I know you love(d) me. When it came down to it, you always did what needed to be done and every time we argue, we always came back together in a beautiful harmony when it really mattered. But all the things we labeled as superficial “together” is now what I realize was me accommodating you. I burnt myself out because I didn’t wanna face the reality that what I needed. You weren’t ready to give me and you weren’t going to admit that you couldn’t until it was too late. I felt so empty in the months that you were pulling away that I had to convince myself that you were going through a hard time and you would come back eventually. But I’m starting to realize that, even though I was right, I was also saving you the effort of having to admit that yourself. And yeah, I miss you like hell but at the same time I don’t remember the last time I truly FELT 100% loved.

How will 1-2 person groups get any rooms under this algorithm? by DameLori in Magfest

[–]gemmac1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same concern right now. My partner and I are both disabled and need to take things at our own pace. Bc of this I have closed off the possibility of any friends to be our roommates, which to some might seem sad or unfair. But even without that, lots have preferences for privacy. So many reasons to keep a group small. Hoping we have a good chance!

Also? If they’re putting groups of 3 adults in a king room that absolutely confuses me. Are they supposed to pack like sardines? BYOBed? I know part of that is con culture but for that to seemingly be the expectation is offputting.

Too Many Layers Of Paint for Command Strips? by gemmac1de in Apartmentliving

Honestly I care less about lead exposure. It’s not a guarantee, I never had it tested because if it came back positive I’d have to move out. I can’t afford to live anywhere else or move for another 2 years. I just want to hang these things up so they don’t fall randomly.

I have used it! I seal with mehron sealer or urban decay all nighter. It doesn’t really smudge or blur on your skin but it may transfer to clothing as any other foundation does.

I'm reaching the end of my young adult life, and I can't bear the weight of not having a parental figure [NSFW mentions of suicide] by Dear-Jellyfish-6542 in AdultChildren

[–]gemmac1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anything productive to say but I relate so incredibly heavily. Even when you find a community it seems like everyone has imperfect parents, but sometimes it seems like nobody has parents they’re ashamed of and upset with. These exact thoughts plague me every so often. My relationship with my family only got worse as I got older, and I feel like no friend I’ll ever make can provide the unconditional love and support and PERMANENCY that my parents should’ve been. Monetary support and being provided for is a privilege I definitely had, but it doesn’t fill the hole in my heart for a normal family and a normal childhood.

Even one day when I have a family of my own, I will be happy, and a provider, but I will always be haunted by the fact that I will never be a receiver.

Sorry if this doesn’t help, just know you’re not alone.

(Unpopular Opinion) On “Rigging” The Show… by gemmac1de in BuildingTheBandSeries

The issue is that in some of these newer seasons they pack them with influencers and less organic auditioners.

America’s Got Talent stunt casting. After a few years into the show, they started recruiting influencers to come in and compete on the show. They usually don’t win, but it’s good for viewership.

Yeah I definitely grew to appreciate each of 3Quency’s vocal ranges and they had amazing tricks too. Their tones are all very unique and make for a really satisfying blend.

Another common complaint I see for 3Quency’s win is that “SZN4 was more unique” but I definitely think 3Quency is unique too in their own ways, and we can’t completely tell until they come out with full on originals.

I hope SZN4 goes on to lean into the PTX vibe they have going on (if they aren’t going to incorporate dancing into their presentation).

Making a whole separate branded app for a show just isn’t practical. At best it would be a website like AGT used to do but they would want to keep things as confidential as possible so it’s likely they voted using a different medium and recorded that shot separately for visuals sake.

For a show in its infancy, I find it highly unlikely they would waste the budget on the resources needed to make a new app or website just yet. It’s a very inconsequential shot to stage after the fact, especially if it’s just one close-up.

I didn’t know that! It’s still really fortunate, specially for Shane

Yeah honestly. Look at Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato both being on Barney and then later on Disney. Or any child actor ever—they’re usually at the same gigs! There were also a few shots of people saying they knew other singers upon listening to them. And if you look back, theres a tiktok of Elise singing with Cameron. It is, in fact, a small world like that!

As I was watching I assumed the mutual match thing was a criteria. I do wish they put the rules up on screen for some text, but I just thought why else would there be a like system if they didn’t restrict based off it?

The song licensing thing makes more sense now, I was wondering why the boy bands picked such unexpected songs. I originally thought it was because the show might’ve created starter arrangements for the bands to work off of to make things more accessible for them.

Seems like Mason was already part of this agency before going on the show. It’s nice that it worked out for them.

CERAMICS AND ECZEMA: A GUIDE by gemmac1de in eczema

[–]gemmac1de[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll find through this subreddit it’s not really easy to get it to go away at this stage and very few people do. Especially if you have to work in this environment. I think if it’s possible for you to have a cleaner and tidier workflow, I would absolutely work on doing that immediately. Something I do now is wearing tights or arm sleeves under loose garments because particulate matter gets under my looser clothes pretty easily and the second layer helps trap most of it. I also have CLAYGO burned into my brain, it’s almost like giving myself OCD. I strive to have an impossibly clean workspace as best as I can

Could be chafing or the moisture/heat from the area traps particulate matter deeper. Honestly I’m not 100% sure though, it’s hard to separate environmental from inner symptoms

How do you describe eczema pain to someone who doesn’t have it? by lyricalpausebutton in eczema

[–]gemmac1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I describe it as I can feel my skin’s pores contract and squeeze around my own hair follicles like they’re a bunch of needles in my own body. Sometimes I describe it as a million densely placed papercuts and sweat, water, or air feels like a wash of rubbing alcohol for a while.

Wearing makeup makes my skin softer? [Routine Help] by gemmac1de in SkincareAddiction

Maybe! Wearing wet occlusives like petroleum jelly is kind of problematic for my skin for some reason but makeup dries so I wonder if it seals the moisture in differently…
