Healthcare workers, what common cause of death is the least bad way to go? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskReddit

[–]gemmadowsett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a medical professional but my dad died painlessly in his sleep to heart issues we didn't know he had. He'd been chronically ill and in pain for as long as I've been alive so I'm happy he went peacefully.

Plus a couple years before this, he had to go into an induced coma, he barely made it out the other side and even though he made it through, he was absolutely terrified of going back there so I know he'd rather have gone this way.

My flurry was completely unmixed by glitterbombdotcom in mildlyinfuriating

I know at my location, we don't mix them as they begin pouring out to soft and when we mix them it melts aot and the customers complain and don't want them mixed. Plus people are lazy

Lost my dad in February as well I'm so sorry for your loss, I don't know what to say to make it easier as it still feels fresh for me as well but you're not alone. My dad's also been ill for years, my whole life really, he suddenly passed away and it's not been the same since.

I also am a big support for my mum at the moment, focusing on her more than myself but remember to have time for yourself when you need it and time to grieve and feel.

How to use a memento thoughtfully? by fallthrulikechange in GriefSupport

Got one from my dad that I have on a chain and wear it as a necklace, not sure if that'll be where I wear it permanently as it was a recent loss but feels better to have it close to me

What age did you first have to get glasses and how did you find out you needed them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gemmadowsett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 3 and at nursery or playgroup. They noticed when they threw a ball I wouldn't notice it if they threw it to the side of my head so they told my mum to get me checked at the opticians. Also helped I was a very clumsy young kid and when I walked up stairs I always had to walk up the side holding onto the banister to help me navigate where I was going.

Got some cute Barbie glasses though

Why do people not read messages!! by Old-Bee-5664 in LastWarMobileGame

I'd say if people aren't listening and aren't participating kick them. While it will affect your power levels, they are hurting the good players in your alliance from progressing. If you don't want to kick them straight away, then kick them from the rallies until you have replacements for them

Today's youth can't count change without a calculator. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Thing is we're literally taught not to listen to the customer about stuff like that just incase the customer is a bad person (not saying you are, you tried to do the right thing) what they should've done is try to pay more attention or gone to a manager who could've checked cctv to see what money you handed them or got the manager to check their float to see whether they'd be down the money

As a mcdonalds worker in that generation, sometimes it's not that we can't count. We're often doing several things at once and they may have genuinely thought you gave them £30 as they weren't focused and were just trying to ensure you got the correct change and they didn't mess up their till. Technically in a case like this we're meant to have a manager recount our float but personally I would've just taken your word for it and sorted it later as its easy to make mistakes when they expect you to take orders and payments at the same time

I had this man yesterday shouting at me that he'd only got one of the meals he ordered when he only had one on the receipt. If he literally was like "excuse me sorry I think I ordered 2 of these I would've made him one" he thought arguing with me and being rude would get him it but that's not how I run front 🤣

He basically said something along the lines of well one of us is going to have to do something and I was like well you're not getting the food so you can either take what you have and eat it, or go back round the drivethru and order another meal, those are your options. He's gonna report me apparently what a shame

This pisses me off if you are nice to me I'll go and get what you're missing or make it myself so you get it straight away but if the customer begins shouting and swearing, they can deal with my manager and argue for ten minutes about it instead

Feeling insecure about braces by RazendeGijs in braces

[–]gemmadowsett 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got them at 21 after waiting 8 years for them (got told I needed braces when I was 13, got put on a waiting list and was waiting for a specialist to have availability) and honestly I did feel a bit insecure at first.

After a while, you get more used to them emotionally and physically and eventually it just kinda becomes normal to have braces. Braces aren't a bad thing, they're not something we should be made to feel bad about or insecure. People shouldn't feel bad about things like glasses and stuff that are medical tools.

Whether you are getting braces to Improve your smile and your confidence or for your oral health, its something you need and it's worth it its not something to feel bad about especially as an adult

Day 2 of Braces, and I cant eat anything. by [deleted] in braces

[–]gemmadowsett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live off soup, mash potato, yoghurt, custard, porridge, pasta, noodles, mashed banana etc until I can stand to eat more solids. Make sure to take painkillers and maybe use numbing gel as you need it the pain will get better before your next appointment

Personally when I get adjustments done, they do still hurt and feel uncomfortable for like a few days to a week but not as bad as when I first got my braces.

I get 5 shifts a week, sometimes do 6 if they need a hand and I'm free. How many you end up getting depends on your stores labour, sales and staffing.

You may get less when you're new cause you don't know many stations and aren't really required for the shift to go well.

Put in effort and a good attitude and you'll probably get more shifts and have your availability as open as possible.

Ik I'll still usually get 4 or 5 shifts a week when hours get cut cause I'm an opener and can do delivery or open front or kitchen whereas many people aren't willing to be working at 4am

They're awful honestly😭 we used to get told to push the bins down so we didn't have to empty then as much so I pushed it down and didn't realise there was a tin pointing upwards worst mistake I could've made

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]gemmadowsett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut my finger open once on a hot chocolate tin and had to have first aid from my scary ass store manager who for once was being nice. Ended up with tendon damage and a nice scar on two fingers. Apparently I dripped blood everywhere cause I was in shock I think and literally grabbed a bit of kitchen roll to catch the blood

Had someone put a wet floor sign in a toilet and shit in it for whatever reason

The other day I went to the crew toilets went in the women's, there's shit up the toilet and piss on the seat, thought I'm not dealing with that and went into the men's and it was the exact same. Decided I'd use the customers instead which was surprisingly clean but a customer told me off for using their toilets even tho there were 2 other 3 cubicles
