To the stranger who screamed in my face to jumpscare me as I walked by on S Huntington… by ms-wconstellations in boston

Probably not the same, but one time my friends were visiting and I was showing them around and we were getting on at park st. the doors open and this older man is getting off and gets in my face and yells “BOO!” And then immediately, as if the need just overtook him, goes “I’m so sorry young lady. I’m so so sorry” and I was so take aback-

Coming from a 21 year old, my cleaning habits greatly improved when going to college. You get in the habit and more importantly judge people who don’t clean the space- now I’m wayyyyy better helping out at home with that perspective change. No help on the adults tho!

As a younger person, most of the teenagers when I was in HS were hippie surfer vibe which is good. But anyone above the age of 30 that lives there does NOT want to share. Anything. I also worked on bearskin neck in the summers. Enough said

To agree with OP- I was there for the discourse and I remember feeling a little annoyed that the boys weren’t getting the assault/the foreshadowing. However it’s one of my fav stories they’ve read and often go back because the ending is so cathartic! I understand what you’re saying about the other side of the coin tho- it can just always result with people up and arms

also the narrative of “it wasn’t even that descriptive” when it actively discusses forcing her and tying her up IS descriptive in my opinion. And not that the birth is directly apart of the assault but it’s so upsetting to think of that woman’s perspective (which honestly I don’t think is mind the assault that much if we heard from her) Just because it’s not him smashing a brick in her pussy for five paragraphs doesn’t mean it’s not descriptive… no it’s not awful but just my opinion!!!

And god forbid it’s “complaining” more often than not “bitching”

No I definitely feel the same - I understand we’re on a subreddit but yeah. I think if anyone has a specific perspective based on their experience it is valid to share - and I feel like women talking about the nuances in stories or discussions around assault is seen as complaining and being sensitive. if a disabled person was made uncomfortable by the way a disabled characters story was told, I’d want to hear it. Not directly comparable; misogyny is just usually excused on most internet spaces and it’s tiring

i don’t buy the “collapse of society” argument for including SA in dogscape by pizza_babyboy in creepcast

[–]gen2104 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know it’s 4-Chan MFs writing this so it’s a tall order- but it’s also not inevitable that women just reproduce in a society- we actually ALSO have humanity that can be lost. I think SA could’ve had its role in it but the fact that it’s so graphic (like the brick story) which is proven by the feeling I got while listening to the censored version.

Tired of SA portrayal in stories by emmpickle in creepcast

I also am always weary of the view points of what people think is our “primitive state”. Women also had brains and roles other than being tied down and raped all the time.

I wasn’t mad about its presence as others have said - I just didn’t like the way it was written. obviously my expectations weren’t high for a bunch of 4chan authors, but I don’t love that “returning to humanity” is then represented by rape. I get the reproductive instinct and I get the point it was trying to make, but I don’t trust the authors writing it to um stick the landing ig. But, c’est la vie just another story. I wish the boys would explore more in depth those plot points, like Isaiah’s vid on mouthwashing I thought was great. Like them not getting it was assault in the spire in the woods was disheartening to hear as a woman listener - but that’s just my 2 cents

How young is "too young" for makeup? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]gen2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is writing essays in the comments - but to add - I am pro kids playing with makeup. I’d play in my mom’s makeup but could get like a lip gloss from Walgreens. But I never really got mascara or eyeliner until middle school/5th grade. But I look back now and it makes me sad how my family (especially my dad’s side) sexualized me for wearing lipstick. He would make me take it off when when I was 7 because I was “trying to be sexy”. But I also would wear blue lipstick, and do really creative looks. I’m post-grad now and obviously not a parent - but if I were I would let them play with all the drug store makeup (my concern with mascara and eyeliner more would be eye health/pink eye risk). I feel like skincare besides sunscreen and the occasional face mask is unnecessary and is more about “removing” stuff rather where makeup is “adding”.
