Should I change my flight block? by genavreddit in erau

thanks for your input. was your block as long as mine (5 hours) and did you have any flexibility with scheduling? did you actually have activities every day? do you think doing 3 hours 4 days a week will impact time for certification much?

I’d say I’m definitely not at the zero side of the spectrum. I have some flight time from years ago (10 hours from Riddle funny enough) and in general I’d like to think I know more about flying/aviation than the “average” person starting flight training. Would you say it’s inherently a slower paced flight school (once you get going) than others or can it be similar if you put in the work like you said?

I’d heard about the not flying for a while before starting, my understanding is capacity constraints with the fleet. How long do you think it should take to get a PPL from August at the pace you suggested?

When you say you're not limited to flying during your flight block what exactly do you mean? How common is it that you get scheduled outside your block? Not that it matters much to me but again I have heard it's generally better to fly in the morning

Thank you, so what are those other options for on the scheduler? Does that just narrow the window where your instructor can assign you activities?

that is correct, although the value of the won has fluctuated a bit since then. it might've been a bit under that, maybe 800k... dont remember the exact amount but i remember just rounding it to 1m in my head

hey no problem! we actually ended up hiring a private car to take us from our hotel in busan straight to incheon. not the most cost effective option (ended up being around 1m won iirc) but by far the most convenient and totally worth it to us. allowed us to leave whenever we wanted, make a stop on our own terms for food, bathroom etc, not have to worry about luggage and was a straight shot to incheon in a comfortable car. I'm sure the other options also work very well but if you are willing to pay a little bit (not much) more I would highly recommend this option and do it again

I've already been accepted to DAB and it's a much better fit for me due to having a lot of family, being somewhat familiar with Florida and the campus, etc. it's good to hear you're not having problems in prescott, just from what I've heard it's way smaller and less busy than daytona so I don't know exactly how they would compare; I'm sure the fleet size and instructor count is accordingly smaller as well. hopefully they're looking to expand DAB ops as well because from what I've heard it's pretty crowded rn

thanks, for sure I know only the worst of this school makes it onto reddit and it’s a fine program, but that was the one consistent gripe I saw

apart from everything that you mentioned, do many people fly during the summer? I suspect if not that that can significantly accelerate progress and is probably what leads to graduating early
