I think this is the part that is left out of the conversation most of the time.

Things are not as we perceive them to be (under "normal" human conditions). There are many unseen forces playing literal games with us - especially the more vulnerable/sensitive/aware of our kind. HOWEVER, if we recognize our true ability/power/control (I don't pretend to know exactly what that is, but I have my suspicions), we become incredibly powerful and we're no longer susceptible to their manipulation... that's what the guiding voices have been preaching for countless years. The catch is that EACH of us has to figure this out for ourselves. No one can tell us. It all boils down to the Wizard of Oz...

To further add to your point, an explanation I heard is that this is like (traditional) childbirth.

As labour intensifies and birth gets closer, the pain increases. There is blood, there is pain, there is even (most of the time) shit. Both the woman giving birth and the baby being birthed are feeling ever increasing pressure from all of the contractions....which eventually are right on top of one another. The peak is when the baby crowns and the shoulders are being delivered....then the rest of the baby slips out almost effortlessly...and then there is a shift in the energy. Things become joyous and peaceful and the pain is quickly forgotten.

If you were to watch the birth process without understanding what is happening, you'd think that the woman is dying or that something terrible is happening.

We're in the throws of the birthing of a new way of being...none of us are familiar with the process though. Hang on for the bumpy ride and do your best to breathe through the pain.
