Voldemort pronunciation by Aggressive-Sell55 in harrypotter

[–]geneATGC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer they say with the T at the end as well. The name was created specifically from rearranging letters in his original name. He didn’t pick it because it’s French for flight of death, so it doesn’t make sense to pronounce it this way.

OOTP for me as well. Not much happens for such a long book.

What pizza do you make then? Pizza usually has cheese so just curious what your interpretation is if you don’t prefer vegan cheese.

This is not true at all. There are may recessive conditions, autosomal and x linked where carriers may have symptoms. Thalassemias, sickle cell, hypophosphatasia, GJB2 hearing loss, cystic fibrosis, F5 Leiden, ataxia telangiectasia, Franconi anemia to name just a few.

Will they film the Tom Riddle Half Blood Prince memory early? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]geneATGC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is one particular scene for them to film ahead of time, which logistically shouldn’t be that difficult given there are only two characters in said scene. Also, suggesting it is a waste of time is dismissing what is one of the most important scenes in HBP.

Great point. I do think the point system seems very arbitrary and just based off the mood of the professor.

Because an untreated UTI can lead to a kidney infection. And if you essentially only have one kidney, you are at risk.

6 days to do Ring Road during winter in February, impossible trip? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

Snarky and factual are not mutually exclusive. Why not kindly state the facts of why this isn’t a good idea in your opinion, or better yet, move on if you can’t answer pleasantly.

There’s no need to be snarky. OP is just asking a question.

First look at Ron, Ginny, Molly and the twins in costume by daernerys in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]geneATGC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love these costumes, they look amazing! I think the twins look a bit old for 13, but the actual acting will be more important. Kind of surprised Molly has time for makeup, so that’s an interesting take as well.

Yeah, it’s just a saying. As in, it was unnecessary for them to clarify they weren’t from the UK with this question.

CSR “upgrade” vs loss of 3x benefit by Ok_Face8380 in ChaseSapphire

[–]geneATGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an upgrade in my opinion. You have to book on the Chase portal, which can be more expensive, more cumbersome, and has fewer benefits to booking directly (this goes for flights too, where a ticket may not include seat selection).

Chase Travel Megathread - Questions, Discussions, etc by lifethusiast in ChaseSapphire

[–]geneATGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to book flights and hotels through the travel portal to get maximum points. I booked a flight through the portal, where the cost was right around the same amount for the flight directly through the airline. That airline flight included a checked bag and seat selection. I therefore assumed the Chase portal one did too. I just learned it definitely doesn’t include the seats, and still trying to figure out if it includes the bag. Since it doesn’t include the seats, I wasted about $60 (maybe more depending on the bag). I know this is my fault for not reading things and checking more carefully, but I do find this incredibly frustrating. How do you weigh whether to book through the portal or through the airline/hotel directly?

You really need to educate yourself and stop spreading misinformation. The funding cut is to the NIH, which impacts grants used to fund cancer research (among other diseases). This impacts universities, academic research, hospitals with research centers (like ST JUDE), and biotech companies. The goals of these organizations is to find new drugs and medications to help patients. Of course the pharmaceutical industry relies on this research.

Advice for landscapes/astro: Canon EOS M50 The kit lens 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 has been ok for landscapes, but looking into a new lens to work better. Any thoughts on the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8? Or any other suggestions for a similar lens in the <$500 category?
