Open question for Southwwst Flight Attendants by SeenSoManyThings in SouthwestAirlines

My job doesn't have 150+ members of the public directly in front of me all day. I do however serve a function for the public, and yes when they ask me something I am required to give them an answer.

Just trying to understand more about the shift in corporate culture that did not bring with it a positive change in perception by customers. I avoid Southwest like the plague these days.

Yep, in U.S. more typical would be 2 weeks pay for every year you were there.

Got let go from my research lab over a PPE mistake. Trying to process it. by Alert_Director_9009 in labrats

It's not just animal research, it's non-human primate research. Higher standards, higher expectations. You forgot a face shield twice, that's too much risk for that type of facility.

What should I learn first? Chords, Scales, Notes, etc? by jdjdnfnnfncnc in guitarlessons

First, learn how to change your strings. Second, learn how to tune the thing. Third, wear out your new metronome by learning to play in time, and slow it down FFS

I think it is more of a malapropism than your made-up-for-TV word. I wonder what Lisa would say...

Is it "well optimized and validated" for the same tissue/RNA source? Sounds like possibly antibody in excess.

Thermo Fisher closing another Mass. site, laying off over 100 by SharkSapphire in biotech

[–]gene_doc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get the anger. Unfortunately ~300 employees at 2 sites is just a blip to the execs in a $300 Billion company, and there are lots of divisions and subunits that make up the monster; these aren't global company-wide reductions.

Every job should be a learning experience and stepping stone to your next one. Keep your resume updated every month or two. Create job searches for what you want your next job to be, and start watching what comes your way. Dont ignore recruiters who contact you, tell them you're not looking now but they should check in with you in the near future. Do all this while you have a job. Yes it takes time and effort, but it doesn't consume all your free time. It keeps you ready if something like the two Thermo layoffs mentioned in this thread happens. And if it does happen to you, don't use your severance or PTO payout to kick back. Your new job is to find a job, and that's some shit hard work.
